Another small step back to some type of sanity! Even though many, many, many people have been screaming that Windows 8 was a POS since the DP (Sept. 2011). Still this OS is nowhere near Windows 7 despite what the "few" say.

Yes it looks like a start menu but to me it looks like a mini start screen. I still recommend if you need a new PC find one with Win7 or have one built. They are still available by popular demand or should I say cause Win8 sucks.

A Band-Aid on a gaping chest wound.

Sorry, but you can keep your smartphone OS bullshit, your Marketing douche bags, and your rabid trolls.

No one with an ounce of self-respect would touch any version of Windows 8, whatsoever.

That sounds good but I still do not want operating system that was designed for tablets on my desktop. Maybe a Win8 with Metro and one without. I will keep Win7 as the small difference in speed does not make up for Metro.

Absolutely! If I wanted a tablet I would buy one. I will keep Windows 7 for as long as I can.

Updates are fine. I'll update my Win8 just like I always do. But I hope this new one has something more than a working Start Button. I didn't use it in Win7 and I see no need for it in Win8.

Whatever...

Well, it is all about you. "Fuck the customer!" is the marketing department's motto, after all.

avatar

Granite

Of course, it's all about me. Why the hell should I give a damn about you?

And why the hell are you stalking me? Making these bullshit comments on my posts? You got a "thing" for me? Get lost, you freak!!

avatar

RUSENSITIVESWEETNESS

Wow. You guys brainstorm ways to fuck over and insult customers all day long, and yet the best you can do is insinuate that I'm gay, as if that would be an insult? Is everyone at Microsoft as homophobic as you? Oh, wait—they are. All day long, the same tired trash flowing from your mouths, like rivers of hate.

You do M$ proud.

avatar

Granite

LOL!!

I'm not surprised, troll. Along with your usual "you must be with MS" idiocy, you somehow think I'm suggesting you are gay...even though I said nothing about that.

Tell me, troll, do you ever get ANYTHING right?

I love how everyone that has a different opinion than you is automatically a MS employee. that is very cute. you should go live with Bullwinkle. you two will be like two peas in a pod. down with MS. all hail Linux/osx/ios

@acidic: You are either a gay or a girl. Just saying.

I just installed w8 on my laptop and gaming rig. I don't see what all the fuss is about. I'm not installing classic shell is anything similar. I need to learn the os as is. w7 is fast but w8 is blazing

Windows 10 is going to be cloud based which means nobody will buy it.....

Think I'll keep windows 8 for 10 years =)

The key is, how much of Win 10 will be reliant on cloud services? The gaming community already saw the backlash of what happens when you propose a mandatory internet connection. I can't see MS making an OS that's so completely dependent on cloud services that it won't be able to perform the most basic tasks without an internet connection. They also have to know that many users in rural areas suffer with some horrid internet speeds that they have absolutely no control over. Then again, the track record for MS hasn't been exactly stellar as of late.

Unlike many other Windows 8 haters I don't think Metro should be removed, but refined.

I think it has a place alongside(complimenting it actually) the traditional desktop. If I can click on the icon on the taskbar to run netflix in a traditional window like all other programs, or full screen, then I would use it. It would be just like using Windows media center.

It would be great if you could download and sync your settings and programs on one account. Instead of downloading every program again ccleaner, revo uninstaller, steam, plex, thunderbird, or whatever, you login after format and everything downloads and syncs to how it was before.

[Here's what I would really want out of a W8 update]:

1] Address all the glaring stability issues [I'd like to be able to use the OS without experiencing blue screens on a nearly constant basis]

2] More compatibility with programs that run on W7. If 8 is so superior to 7, it shouldn't be a problem, right Microsoft?

3] Offer a better Desktop UI. One that doesn't make me feel like I am using a bloody tablet. If I wanted to use a tablet, well, I'd buy one, wouldn't I?

4] Stop acting like putting the start button back in is a huge deal, that took you loads of effort that you did just for the loyal consumers you have. It isn't, it didn't, that wasn't the reason. I really don't care about the start menu at this point. Half of 8 is garbage. Tacking a pretty button on it does not make it any less so.

[On a side note, if they make DX 12 W8 only, my fury will know no bounds]

1. That's likely your fault as Windows 8 is a very solid OS. I myself have not seen these stability problems.

2. Yeah, most programs do run on 8 fine, but I am not saying they all do, just 5% or less likely.

3. No complaints.

4. It was pretty stupid that the Start button was removed as a normal user wouldn't know to click a hidden button.

5. Half of 8 is garbage? Nonsense, your the typical idiot making people think Windows 8 at it's core is bad because of a unrefined new interface.

6. Why would you be mad at a company keeping it's technology exclusive? They are a profit making business, they have to be >competitive

RUSENSITIVESWEETNESS

I think you could use these. They look comfortable.

"She will also tell you that the update is unlikely to include the ability to run Windows 8 apps in their own windows on the desktop". Microsoft must by now be running out of space on their feet to shoot. They desperately want me to use "Metro" and yet they are the reason half of my PC is unusable.
