Thanks for the review. just picked this up on Newegg for $150 with promo code EMCYTZT4562. Upgrading from a 2TB drive in my HTPC

maxpc,

for your benchmark charts, you guys should start using color coding in addition to bolding. bolding isn't easy enough to see.

funny, got two of these at frys a few days ago for $150 each (on sale) ST4000DM000 - same drive, no? had no idea they were 4 platter.

At last, a drive large enough for my music collection!

Just show me where they are.

At first glance, I thought that was a 15.4TB hard drive and began to slobber. We'll get there, eventually.

Can't even imagine what we could need 15 TB for. But then I think of those uncompressed textures for Rage....

How about those who have movie collections? I currently have a 10TB RAID 5 drive that is almost full with regular DVD movies I ripped from my DVD collection. I have SOME Bluray, but most are just DVD. Now think, when the 4K movies start to come out, I will be putting them on a drive also. That will easily mandate, for me, a huge TB RAID drive to handle all of them.

That doesn't even account for my music collection, photos (semi-pro photographer), business documents, computer backups, etc.

There are quite a few people who have uses for huge drives, whether you can think of a use or not.

Likewise. I had to do a double take.

I saw the Seagate Barracuda XT 4TB (ST4000DX000) on Amazon and wondering how it stacks up against the Seagate HDD.15 4TB (ST4000DM000) drive. Otherwise I can't wait for a 7200 RPM, 4 platter 4TB hard drive. Nice Review!
