For every minute that goes by, Samsung sells 120 television sets. That's assuming Samsung's rate of sales is the same as it was in November, a record month for the world's largest supplier of TVs. Samsung said it sold 5.7 million TVs last month, up from 5 million in October and buoyed by a jump in U.S. sales during Thanksgiving weekend.

Samsung is confident it will remain the top TV brand in 2011, Reuters reports . And rightfully so. Samsung set a 2011 flat screen sales target of 45 million units, and there's little reason to doubt the company will meet that goal after its strong performance in November.

Sony, which is locked in a battle with LG Electronics for a second place finish in the global TV market, said last month that it's expecting yet another year of losses, it's fourth in a row, with its TV division on pace to lose $2.2 billion. Meanwhile, Samsung's TV division reported around $213 million in operating profit in the third quarter of 2011.
