I thought that the Pro could now use Rapid mode. If so that should let it rate above the EVO but that was not included in this test. In any case they are both excellent drives. I am now using a pair of Pro's on RAID 0 in my latest build but I am not sure if Rapid mode works with RAID, I know that the excellent magician software does not.

I have two 250GB EVOs running in RAID 0 on my brand new Alienware 18 and LOVE IT! Crazy fast even without Rapid Mode, these drivers are every PC gamer's dream come true. Keep up the great work Samsung!

Love my 840PRO. Was able to get 1.16GB/s with RAPID... and my old Mushkin Chronos tops out at about 400MB/s... Wicked drives samsung.. and those controllers just sippp power

I own 4 of the 256GB EVOs and one 256GB Pro. Rapid mode is THE BOMB and it is quite noticeable to me after I enabled it. I disabled it just to see if I was making it up but no, a slight more hesitation on booting a large program.
I donno if anyone has matched this utility or not but DANG!

Did you steal that 256 Pro from your son or buy another one?

I am referring to your post on December 09, 2013 at 12:08pm regarding Magician 4.3 software were you say you gave it to your son

Or did you mean "we" have 4 evo's and 1 pro?

Wow, you remembered! Indeed, I stole the PRO back for my main computer as he had not installed it yet. I doubt he has even put in the EVO, he just does boring stuff like thesis work and papers and things with the computer. He run Linux and uses online tools exclusively. Waste of a great gaming machine, he refused to let me upgrade his GTX 580 with a leftover 680... the other 3 EVOs are being used in my other computers, so Pro in one, 3 EVOs in others and one Evo probably just sitting there on a shelf.

Turning down a perfectly good 680? Shameful!

If you ever need to um, offload it somewhere.. you know where to find me.

DO I need to call plagiarism or laziness?

It is a direct whole copy of the 07/25/2013 benchmark post, minus the listing of the rest of the EVO line and a few graphic changes.

No need to. Last line even says that it is a reprint from last year. The snipping probably occurred to fix the chart to the web page. They do a LOT of reposts from the magazine.

...I'm also wondering if any of the performance numbers changed since the original post. There have been a couple firmware updates for the EVO drives since then...

@john, I did see that he marked it as coming from the Oct. 2013 issue, but he also did the July 2013 online post that I was referencing that is an almost identical copy of this post.

I don't mind so much if it was a repost of what was in the magazine, but this is a repost of something that was already online.

Yo Josh the site feels a bit bogged down. I don't know if its a script or some images are too heavy. Might want to look into it. Just saying.
