Gaming peripheral maker Razer today announced that its Razer Edge tablet will available for pre-order starting March 1, 2013 at precisely 12:01 AM Pacific. Purchased units will ship to consumers sometime in the same month, though Razer didn't announce an official launch date. Pricing for the Razer Edge starts at $1,000 for an Intel Core i5 dual-core (1.7GHz) foundation with 4GB of DDR3-1600 RAM and Nvidia GeForce GT 640M LE graphics.

It also features a 64GB solid state drive, 10.1-inch IPS multi-touch display with a 1366x768 resolution, and Windows 8. Razer's promoting the device as a full-functioning PC, touch-enabled tablet, and gaming console all rolled into one.

"Furthermore, the Razer Edge’s powerful chipset, unique among all tablet computers, ensures that you can take advantage of the world’s most sophisticated games, programs and apps on these multiple platforms anytime," says Min-Liang Tan , Razer co-founder, CEO, and creative director.

Razer also plans to make available for pre-order the gamepad controller, home console dock, and extended battery accessories on the same day as the Razer Edge.

For those who need something a little more powerful, the Razer Edge Pro will be available for pre-order for $1,300 (128GB) and $1,450 (256GB). In addition to more storage, the Razer Edge Pro boasts a faster processor (Core i7 dual-core clocked at 1.9GHz) and more RAM (8GB DDR3-1600).
