Microsoft's not waiting for SP1 to release reliability and performance fixes for Vista. You can now download a fix for certain STOP errors relating to hibernation or standby modes, and, as a bonus, get up to 15% faster performance in large disk I/O. Read KB943899 to learn more and get links to the updates for both 32-bit and 64-bit Vista editions. A second reliability update that addresses portable computer resume issues, error code 0x8007000b, and media playback problems is available from KB946041 for both 32-bit and 64-bit Vista editions.
If you're using Windows Mail on either 32-bit or 64-bit Vista editions, be sure to grab the February update for its Junk E-Mail filter, available from KB905866.
Media Center fans, especially those using the Xbox 360 as a Media Center extender, will want to install the February 2008 Cumulative Update for Media Center for Windows Vista, available from KB947172 for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, or via Windows update.
