Ever wanted to login to a steam account with every single game unlocked and ready to download? Valve CEO Gabe Newell is taunting gamers with this very promise by offering up his username and password for all to see. So now your wondering, what's the catch right? His account is protected by Steam Guard.
The recently unveiled feature, for those who haven’t heard of it, is an attempt to improve account security by allowing users to optionally register computers against an account. Doing this allows you to prevent unauthorized access, even if someone gets your password.
The early implementations of Steam Guard operate by taking a digital fingerprint of your machines unique hardware configuration, however the goal is ultimately to implement stronger protection in hardware using something like the Intel Identity Protection Technology.
Either way Gabe must be pretty confident their current implementation is sound enough to withstand the hordes of wishful gamers pounding on his account.
