Well that was fast, Despite all the speculation about Microsoft's pricing strategy for Surface, there were enough pre-order buyers to deplete whatever initial stock of the standalone 32GB model the Redmond company had set aside. Now when you go to order a 32GB Surface RT without a Touch Cover, the estimated delivery is "within 3 weeks" instead of October 26, which is when the other models will still arrive.
Interestingly, you can order a 32GB Surface RT with Touch Cover for $599 and have it arrive by October 26, you just can't order the tablet by itself and expect it to show up on the day Windows 8 launches. The same is true of the 64GB model ($699), which is only available with a Touch Cover -- it too will arrive on October 26.
It remains to be seen when Surface with Windows 8 Pro will be available to order, and for how much. In the meantime, Microsoft has posted a product page detailing the specs, reiterating what we already know about the tablet. It will have an Intel Core i5 processor (Ivy Bridge) with HD Graphics 4000, 4GB of RAM, a 1920x1080 resolution, 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, full-size USB 3.0 port, and various other amenities.
