Pogoplug today unveiled a new cloud-based storage service for mobile phones that provides users with 5GB of free online storage. By adding this service to its lineup, the braggadocios folks at Pogoplug claims their's is the only company with a combined hardware/software/cloud offering, and has more sharing and streaming services solutions than anyone else on the market.
Pogoplug Cloud enables users to automatically upload photos and videos from their mobile phone to their online account without the need to sync. Users can then share their content through email, Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus. Pogoplug lets users create shared folders to collaborate with friends and colleagues, and also supports streaming HD videos, photos, and music straight to a mobile phone.
"Mobile users are asking for more storage for their devices," said Daniel Putterman, CEO and co-founder of Cloud Engines. "We designed Pogoplug Cloud to give everyone the freedom to interact with all of their personal content straight from their mobile phone."
If 5GB isn't enough, Pogoplug offers 50GB ($9.95/month) and 100GB ($19.95/month) upgrade options. The service is available now, with free apps for iOS and Android available in each one's respective market place.
