It’s been a relatively busy week in terms of service disruptions with Amazon’s elastic cloud malfunction taking down dozens of the web’s most popular websites, and now an ongoing Playstation Network outage is stretching into its fourth day, with no end in sight. According to a blog post by Patrick Seybold, Sr Director of Corporate Communications, Sony will continue to work on resolving the issue around the clock, but couldn’t commit to an exact time when service would be restored.
“Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security. We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project. We will continue to give you updates as they become available.”
Presumably PSN gamers will be rewarded with a more stable service as a result of the upgrades, but I’m sure Sony isn’t too pleased it had to sit on the sidelines over the Easter long weekend.
