Habey USA's new BIS-6630 compact fanless embedded PC isn't quite small enough to inconspicuously jam into your pants pocket, though at just 7.5 inches (W) x 7.5 inches (L) x 2.5 inches (H), it's just the right size for digital signage applications, which is what it's intended for. It's built around Intel's Cedar Trail platform and has a power efficiency rating of just 12W.
Clients can choose between an Intel Atom N2800 (1.83GHz) or D2700 (2.13GHz) processor. The BIS-6630 has a single DDR3 SO-DIMM slot that supports up to 4GB of RAM. Other features include a single 2.5-inch internal drive bay (SATA 3Gbps), six USB 2.0 ports (two in the front, four in the back), a pair of RS-232 serial ports, DVI-D and VGA display connectivity, onboard 5.1 channel HD audio, two GbE ports, two mini-PCIe slots, and support for Windows 7 Embedded, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Linux.
Habey claims the BIS-6630 also has a bit of a rugged chip on its shoulder and is able to withstand "extreme conditions" courtesy of its lower heat dissipation, making it suitable for 24/7 applications.
The BIS-6630 is available now. No word on price.
