Chiding grandmothers often warn young ‘uns that they shouldn’t go around mixing business and pleasure, but that axiom seems kind of dated in the always connected, ‘round the clock realities of the 21st century. Today, Epson announced a new duo of combo projectors that’s perfect for a little work and a little play thanks to their ability to display images from smartphones, game consoles, tablets and PCs – sound included. They're packed with tons of other home theater-ready features, too.
The MegaPlex MG-850HD and MegaPlex MG-50 each sport 3LCD technology to beef up the visual fireworks. The higher-end MG-850D sports 2,800 lumens and and 720p HD playback, while the more basic MG-50 tones it down to 2,200 lumens and 540p video. Both include 10W stereo speakers, HDMI, VGA and USB connections, plus a built-in iWhatever dock on the rear of the projector that can be used to charge Apple devices, act as a speaker dock or project video. Epson says the projectors can display images 12 times larger than a traditional 40-inch TV, while on the convenience side of things, it includes a carrying handle. “And with the microphone input, users can narrate photo and business slideshow presentations, or sing karaoke,” Espon says.
100-inch HD video and karaoke? Sounds intriguing. You can pick up the projectors in Epson’s online store now. The MG-50 costs $700 while the MG-850HD will set you back $800 smackers.
