If thought your video of Uncle Andy barreling down the slopes and skiing face first into a pine tree was hilarious in 2D, do you think it would be even funnier in 3D? Acer's HR274H is supposed to be able to answer that question. It's a 27-inch 3D monitor "featuring new advances in 3D technology," one of which is an innovative chip solution that helps the display convert any 2D content to 3D, Acer says.
It's a hardware based solution that doesn't require any software, and it converts content on-the-fly. All you have to do is enable the feature via the on-screen display (OSD) and BAM, Uncle Andy can relive his bout with the pine tree in 3D.
The LED backlit display supports a native 1920x1080 Full HD resolution with a 2ms response time (GTG), 250 cd/m2 brightness, and 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio (dynamic, of course). It has two HDMI ports, a single VGA port, integrated speakers, and an angle adjustable stand.
This is not a glasses-free 3D display, however. The HR274H and included polarized glasses are built around film-patterned retarder (FPR) technology for a supposedly flicker-free 3D viewing experience.
The HR274H 3D LCD is available now for $599.
