Owners of the Iconia Tab A200 tablet are able to unwrap Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) today as Acer begins pushing out an Android 4.0 update to its 10.1-inch, Tegra 2-powered slate. The A200 is the first of several Iconia Tab tablets that Acer plans to upgrade in the near-future. The 7-inch A100 and 10.1-inch A500 will both be treated to ICS in April, Acer announced today.
"The many enhancements in Android 4.0 OS complement the sleek, powerful, and well-designed Acer Iconia Tab tablets to give customers an all-around first-rate experience," said Paul Tayar, Director Product Marketing—Connected Devices, Acer America. "Customers will experience greater entertainment and productivity with the many new capabilities and features on their tablets."
In addition to the usual assortment of upgrades that all users of ICS can expect, Acer says the Android 4.0 update also includes a handful of new features unique to the Iconia Tab line. Iconia Tabs running Android 4.0 will sport the Acer Ring application, which provides a convenient way to scroll through available applications by placing all five fingers on the touchscreen, and Iconia Tab owners will be able to access their favorite apps when the screen is locked with the ICS upgrade.
