If mobility is the name of the game, Acer's K335 portable projector won't bog you down. On the contrary, Acer says its newest projector weighs a mere 2.8 pounds -- that's Ultrabook territory -- and measures 9.1 inches by 6.5 inches by 1.8 inches, small enough to fit easily in a briefcase or backback. That being the case, Acer is pitching the K335 LED projector as being suitable for both home entertainment and business presentations.
The K335 delivers a brightness of 1,000 lumens and a 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. It also has a native resolution of 1280x800 (WXGA) resolution though it will play Full HD content from Blu-ray discs and other sources, Acer says.
"Consumers and mobile professionals who want a compact, yet high quality projector for using at home or the office will be thrilled with the Acer K335," said Edward Chan, product manager for Acer America. "Its bright projection, long life and plug and play operation make it a practical tool for enjoying movies from the comfort of home or making a high-impact presentation to colleagues."
Acer claims user can squeeze up to 30,000 hours out of the LED by taking advantage of the unit's Eco mode, or up to 20,000 hours by sticking with the Standard mode. Either way, it will deliver a 40-inch image from less than 3.9 feet away with color saturation up to 95 to 130 percent NTSC. In addition, it has 2GB of onboard storage so you can pre-load content in preparation for a business meeting or viewing at a friend's house.
As for connectivity, the K335 features HDMI/MHL, SD card reader, USB, and mini-USB. It also has a built-in Office and PDF document reader.
The Acer K335 LED projector will be available later this month for $699 MSRP.
