In the same week that Microsoft unveiled a fan-cooled tablet, Taiwanese vendor Acer quietly announced a fanless laptop promising “whisper-quiet computing.” The Acer TravelMate B115P, as the upcoming device is called, has an 11.6-inch touchscreen (1366 x 768), measures 0.83 inches thick and tips the scales at 2.62 pounds.
Beneath its ultra-thin and light frame you will find up to an Intel quad-core Pentium processor, up to 8GB RAM, 128GB solid-state storage, and HD webcam with High Dynamic Range (HDR). Further, the Windows 8.1-running B115P is said to have a 10-hour battery life.
“The B115P comes equipped with all the essentials needed for a busy working day. With an intuitive HD multi-touch display, full-sized keyboard and large precision touchpad with enhanced sensitivity and accuracy, users are able to work quickly and efficiently no matter what the task,” the company said in a press release announcing the B115P.
The B115P is scheduled to go on sale in the UK in July, sporting a £349 ($588) price tag. However, there’s no word on a U.S. release date or pricing yet.
