The only way to stop cheats other than say, PunkBuster are the Server Admins. Any well managed server worth it's rep will have on hand an Admin at all times to ensure things run smoothly. It's better to be there and not be needed, than to be needed and not be there.

Cheating does exist in BF3. My clan mates play almost everyday and never have an issue with it. We are regulars on 5 servers that monitor and kick cheaters quickly. It's all in the admin on the server.

Cheating is always an issue in a shooter
but in addition to PB EA/Dice has another piece of SW called "Fairfight" which will also be present in the Beta

I have found that cheating is an issue in all FPS games.
I have played every BF series and at least to me it seems that the game itself makes you think a guy is a hacker because of the Horrible hit detection. There are hackers but I have found that the good servers that have active admins will kick them or at least enact the vote to kick option.
So yes, Hackers need to go to poorly managed server to survive without getting the boot.
Im hoping that the Hit detection issue will be resolved in BF4

Amen, brother. The rego combined with supression was aimed at casual players. It worked. The PC and esp the competitive community were just ignored. Hopefully they actually fix all of the above, instead of just talking about it.

I left the series when cheating in Battlefield 1942 went unchallenged by the publisher.

Did that situation ever improve?

Cheating in general on PC versions of FPS's... That's why I no longer play them on the PC. Cheating exists on the consoles too but its not nearly as rampant.

There are many servers that exist in PC gaming where they are well run and cheating is a non issue. You give up too easily.

Oh, is that it? I had no idea. Thanks for sharing your brilliant insights.

I think someone pissed in his cereal today. he's normally pretty spot on with tact rather than snide remarks.
