Don't worry Paul, that is the usual type of hater that trolls along MPC (and other forums) looking to hate on someone/something in order to feel better about themselves. In this case anyone that has anything good to say about Windows 8 is some "MS paid shill" while everyone that hates Windows 8 is some "uber tech god". Rather sad I know but such is life.

^ Repeat that 100x to convince yourself that you are right still ain't gonna change the fact. I pity you really. :)

MPC is biased, Proof, by Gordon:
http://www.maximumpc.com/stop_windows_8_hate_2013

This is a pure personal opinion, should not be news.

@Paul: As I said, I have nothing against you, you do have good articles,
but the latest ones coming from MPC to convince people to upgrade leaves
an impression that there is something fishy.

Of course MPC is biased regarding Gordon. That's his thing here; to do some op-ed and be opinionated. (Gordon does do "unbiased" stuff too.) It's why most people like him. He talks shit and gives opinions. I don't always agree with his opinions but I'm only calling bullshit if he says something I think is "wrong," not because I don't share the same opinion.

This isn't "pure personal opinion." There was one statement in the entire article that sounded like an opinion. "...with the launch of Windows 8.1, it's an even better experience than before. Is it for you? If you'd like to find out without investing your hard earned money, just give it an extended test drive."

…it started out as an opinion (which any writer is entitled to) but he qualified that as "Is it for you?" It seems Paul Lily is saying "I like 8.1 better than 8 but you may feel otherwise. You can try it for yourself."

Srs: would you have had a problem if he said he didn't like it? This is technically a blog anyway. There shouldn't be some expectation of a PBS/BBC-standard of journalistic integrity and neutral reporting. They're promoting a magazine and there's going to be ads and maybe even an advert like every other site like this has. (You should see Cult of Mac or even the sister-pub's site Mac|Life. Mac|Life is *always* doing adverts about apps for sale and stuff…same company as MPC. This isn't a charity and I'll bet a lot of people aren't even buying the print magazine…which also has op-ed and ads.)

@Rebelx Don't be a fool. If i didn't know any better, i'd say you were the biased one. The windows 8 hatewagon is getting old.

avatar

Rebel_X

No, I am unbiased. I don't really hate windows 8.
But Paul's articles lately talks about win8 and why we should upgrade,
merely his opinions, and not news.

You, don't be a fool and gullible.

I read the 1st line of this article and I immediately thought to myself, "I wonder how much Microsoft is handing MPC under the table to write this rubbish."

Windows 8 is fail. And MPC writing this article is hardly "news" at all.

Just reads like tech news to me. I wanted to know and didn't see the word please anywhere in the article.

Rebel_X

implied everywhere that even the blind can see. I don't know about you though.

Tech reviews should have little to none of personal opinions. Only graphs numbers, and facts. This is not in English COM102.

Lol, If that isn't a perfect example of a personal flaw full of prejudices.

Damn! There isn't a word that describes technological news racism.

I thinks it's obvious that maxpc is writing a lot of endorsement reviews of different products. There are great articles that are independent and informative but they're becoming few and far between. The stuff that goes into the magazine are much better if you don't mind that 80% of the pages are advertisements.

On a side note, Windows 8.1 is actually a lot less horrible and I personally stopped using classic shell with this one. The metro screen is now a lot less invasive and easier to work with.

Rebel_X

I agree with everything in the first paragraph, especially the magazine, which is awesome.

And I agree with you for what you said in the second paragraph, which
only describes your opinion about the OS. I never tried it, I might
like it if I try. But again, does that make your, mine or his opinion elevate to be news?

I am not against Paul, he has many good articles, but lately he is losing
credibility. At least from my perspective.

MaxPC is not biased. You fail to realize that people are curious about the OS. Considering the sharp contrast of opinions, those who like 8.1 a lot and those who have never tried it but dislike it (Ali G abortion video here >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ERgTC-3wsY ), it is difficult for the customer to decide. This article gives many the option to try the OS and find out themselves whether they will like the OS at all.

You forgot my group. Those who have tried it and dislike it.

avatar

legionera

If I start describing all marginal groups it will take a lot of time. You are a minority, but yes, you exist.

You can't realize what I can realize, and sorry, only your kinds watch Ali G.

What are you sorry about? The video was to show you how ridiculous all those haters sound, I have never said I am his follower in any ways. What made you think I am a fan of his? Tell me what you realize, please.
