No way will I get involved with Facebook. Too bad as they might loose a lot of consumers with the Facebook choice.

I decided to create an alt Facebook account for all the stupid contests that require a Facebook "Like". If you can't beat them... fool them!

I tried this but Facebook insisted that I needed to provide them with a phone number as so they could verify my identity as my name was "suspected of being fake" or some such BS.

They don't lose anything by going the facebook route. This is a free giveaway and seeing as facebook has over a billion users, they will easily reach their goal without you.

Also, to those concerned about "them" having access to your information: no need to fret, they already do. Any online outlet where you've put your information is up for grabs; any debit or credit card transaction, done; any type of utility bill, taken; anytime you've worked at a job using your social security; anytime you've applied for any type of loan, or had your name run for a job or for housing approval.

I understand hating facebook is the hip(ster) thing to do right now, and I'm not promoting facebook's algorithms of scraping your data for targeted ads as a great thing, but lets be real: they aren't the enemy. Personally, I'll take targeted ads for the convenience of being able to keep up with friends and family in one easy-to-use place. Because, at the end of the day, all your base are belong to NSA (with or without you being on facebook) - at least if you're on facebook, you're less likely to stand out from the crowd.

I wish I would be more excited about this. They might as well offer this game free
