Have you ever seen a Panda gloat, one that wasn't played by Jack Black? You have now. Panda Security today announced to the world that its Panda Internet Security 2011 software has been certified by AV-Test.org in its Q1 2011 Product Review and Certification Report. This kung-fu Panda of a different sort put the hurt on malware, detecting 100 percent of samples in AV-Test.org's malware batch, as well as those from its 'in the Wild' list, Panda Security says.
We'll afford Panda the right to celebrate. AV-Test.org is one of the independent testing laboratories we tap into when evaluating antivirus and internet security software. In this latest round of testing, AV-Test.org scored PIS2011 a 5/6 in Protection, 4.5/6 in Repair, and 4.5/6 in Usability. You can read a more in-depth report here (PDF) .
We included Panda Internet Security 2011 in our most recent antivirus roundup, awarding the program an 8 verdict based in large part on its high level of protection. Our main issue with the program is that it's saddled with a pokey scan engine, followed by too many alerts. Otherwise, it's a solid internet security suite.
