Oculus please STOP with the dev kits!! Just release the damn Rift already! Almost 2 years now and still there is no finished consumer product available...really??

Personally, I'm glad the team is taking its time. Especially when simulation sickness is an issue for quite a few people. There is also the added bonus that this gives the team a chance to build the Rift for even cheaper so that maybe regular consumers will be able to afford it at a reasonable price. :)

It's unfortunately not ready just yet. I was initially impatient like yourself, but the guys are smart and seem to know what they're doing. I'd rather not get something rushed at this point and can await a good finished project.

They can't, because it doesn't work very well. It didn't work very well fifteen years ago, it didn't work very well twenty five years ago, and it still doesn't work well. Nausea, ergonomic discomfort, eyestrain, can't see the keyboard... None of those problems have been solved and they won't be any time in the foreseeable future, because it's a dead-end with current technology.

Go ahead and rant and hate on me if it makes you feel better, but I'm just the messenger. I've seen this before.

Don't believe me? Fine, read this:

You want VR? I can tell you how to get it right now, because I've been using it successfully for three years: Eyefinity/Surround + triple monitors + TrackIR. THAT is effective and practical virtual reality, and it doesn't make you want to vomit after ten minutes of play.

I don't wish to hate on you, however, I would like to point out that it is no longer 25 or even 15 years ago. The technology does exist these days; it is only a matter of implementing it correctly while maintaining cost-effectiveness.

Sony also unveiled their PS4 VR hardware, I wonder if this will be 3d TV all over again

I'm curious to see how well it will perform on the PS4. Especially since, if I remember correctly, the Oculus team said that its VR machine wouldn't work well on current gen consoles.
