Former 343 Industries art director assembling team for first-party titles
Oculus VR announced on its Twitter account that it has hired Kenneth Scott for the position of Oculus art director for its first-party content team. Scott will be in charge of building the team, according to the tweet , though no information has been provided as to what kind of content will be developed.
Scott was the former art director at 343 Industries, the developer for the Halo franchise since Bungie’s departure from Microsoft, and was responsible for building up the developer’s art department in 2008. He left the company back in January.
Scott’s hiring comes a week after Oculus ceo Brendan Iribe talked about the possibility of the team developing a MMO that could simultaneously support one billion people. Such a project could certainly be feasible given that Oculus was purchased by Facebook for $2 billion.
Despite a dispute between Oculus VR and Zenimax Studios, Oculus is still looking to hire additional people. Aside from hardware and software engineers, Oculus is also seeking a 3D animator as well as a 3D artist and modeler.
