They say that about every driver release before a major title. Good marketing, of course, but functionality and stability is another story (Remember RAGE?).

I update out of habit rather than necessity.

I never download beta drivers.
Graphics cards have been bricked by them before.

How on earth did you brick a card with Beta drivers? Beta firmware sure but beta drivers? I'm calling BS on this one without proof.

Ya know, things do happen outside of your realm of experience and knowledge.. sheesh - drivers can and have had adverse effects on clock speed management, which can result in frying a card. Not a big issue anymore, but back when throttling was new, or non existent, it could happen.

There were reports a few years ago of a beta driver disabling the gpu fan. Cards were fried.
It may not have happened to many, but rather than flush $500 down the toilet, or wait for Nvidia to replace my card, I'll simply wait for thoroughly tested driver.

I'll Second that statement by NVidia. I was getting anywhere from 15 to 80 FPS on the BF4 beta regardless of what settings I was using. And this is with a GTX 780 classified. Once I updated the drivers, the FPS have more or less settled at 40-50 on Ultra settings and 4x AA at 1080p
