Intel Core i3-3240 DOES NOT have "Intel's mighty Haswell architecture" but instead is based on the old lowly IVY BRIDGE architecture. Haswell CPUs start with the number 4 in their model numbers (i.e i7-2*** Sandy Bridge, Core i7-3*** Ivy Bridge, Core i7-4*** Haswell)

Calling it " old lowly IVY BRIDGE" is a bigger mistake than Paul's.

If you live near a Micro Center, they've got the i7 4770k for $199 and the i5 3570k for $149

My early morning sarcasm & word play was lost on the world!! I would gladly trade the TigerDirect that is 5 miles from my house for a Micro Center.. but since there are only 23 MC stores in 16 states.. and many of those stores are in the same basic area (2 in Atlanta.. 2 Chicago.. 1 just north and 1 just south of Washington DC, and 3 in Ohio), most people don't have a Micro Center within a 100 miles of them (about 250 miles for me). So while MC does have great IN STORE sales, these deals are useless for the vast majority of the computer buying public. Me and my credit card would partake if we could but we can't so we don't.

No offense, I totally got your sarcasm :) I was actually returning the favor ;)

Lucky for me I have a MC 20 minutes from my house. Going there tomorrow to pick up a 3570k for a Christmas build for my nephew. :)

That was my bad. Chalk it up to pre-coffee editing.

Still a good price for a respectable chip. It's a last generation part, but I wouldn't describe Ivy Bridge as a "lowly" architecture.

Not sure I would describe Haswell as a "mighty architecture" :-p but chalk up my cynicism to pre-Captain Crunch consuming! Noticed you didn't use any superlative adjective or adverb to describe Ivy Bridge. If Haswell is "mighty", then perhaps IB should be described as "a tad less than mighty", "Haswell's older, less successful brother" or "better than most but not the best"!!

To the i3-3240 deal, yes you are correct on it being a good price.. got the i3-3220 earlier this year at Newegg for $100 FS and this equates to that deal.. $7 more for 0.1GHz speed increase.. although at $7 per 0.1GHz, a 3.4GHz i3-3240 should cost $238!!
