MSI GT780DX Laptop is Chock Full of Gaming Greatness

Paul Lilly

The new GT780DX gaming laptop from MSI is being billed as "the ultimate weapon in battle," and one look at the spec sheet shows why. It's a 17-inch notebook outfitted with a second generation Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, Nvidia's near top-of-the-line (in mobile) GeForce GTX 570M discrete graphics with 1.5GB of GDDR5 memory, and supports up to 32GB of DDR3 system memory.

It also has a SteelSeries gaming keyboard baked into the chassis. MSI says the keyboard is more rugged than a standard plank, the Windows key has been moved to the right side to prevent accidentally striking it when you really just mean to duck fire, it has larger Ctrl and Alt keys, and there are five backlight schemes to choose from, including one that will light up just the all-important W, A, S, D, and Ctrl keys on the left side.

Exact specs will vary by model, but for around $1,550 street, the GT780DX0406US sports an Intel Core i7 2670QM processor (2.2GHz), 12GB of DDR3 memory, 750GB hard drive, DVD burner, GeForce GTX 570M GPU, GbE LAN, a pair of USB 3.0 ports, three USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, eSATA, 720p HD webcam, memory card reader, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Blu-ray, SSD, and RAID options are also available.
