Just another example of the great success of Microsoft's Metro and Windows 8. LOL!

With NPAPI support ending soon, what will be the purpose of Firefox's existence? It's just a rebranded Netscape anyway...

Mozilla was developing a touch browser?

The one they are stopping is the Metro browser. I read the reason is because in Metro you don't select a browser like you can in the desktop. You set a default browser and it runs. But they do have a FF version for the desktop that is touch.

Perhaps Firefox could take the dev time they were using for this and use it to finally fix up their Desktop and Android versions?

I'm tired of the lack of multithreading on both versions and the time waiting for text to "focus" on Android is a pain as is its habit of spontaneously closing itself down.

...a block on all autoplay video would be nice. There once was a time where setting Flash Player to 'click to activate' accomplished this 100% but that time is gone.

Agreed, FF on Android needs some work. An issue I find annoying personally is the distance that I have to scroll down for the address bar to appear. It seems like a minor issue at first, but when you have 15+ tabs open and jump back and forth quickly, it starts becoming more than just a minor menace.

Mozilla needed to do a better job getting the word out about this product in order to get more testers. I even consider myself somewhat of a Mozilla fanboy and am just now finding out about this

Microsoft's viral marketing team is a hoot.

I'm surprised that "only 1000 people" used the FF Beta for their Windows tablets. Oh well, I'm still a bit pissed that FF on PC has had Flash troubles with a couple of the websites that I frequent a lot (updating Flash didn't even help). I wished they had a version of FF that worked on Windows Phones since IE sometimes can be a hassle on the phone.

Only 1000 users? With all the iPad and otherpad/touch screens out there that are strangling and killing the PC market this is a total surprise.

Or is it?

Windows RT only devices flopped. Windows 8 devices are doing OK but most heavy duty work is still done under desktop.

With Metro being a captive market on 8 and RT even those of use who have adopted 8 don't use Metro all that much.

Thus far I use the eBay, Netflix and Steam's "Icon" maker. I pretty much only use metro as my start menu. I'm in no rush to buy any apps on that platform.

They should suck it up. Touchscreen is coming. They need to be in the forefront or get left behind. I use firefox. I hate to see them throw in the towel.

GDI! I was really looking forward to using Firefox as my default browser on my Surface Pro. I've been trying out beta for touch since it was released, but can't use it as the default because its just too buggy and slow in touch mode. Now it looks like I'm stuck using IE when I'm in touch mode which doesn't make me happy. Mozilla, you gave up too quickly. Beta for touch hasn't even been available that long!
