A perfect introduction to my (and my two sons)addiction. The game that is best defined by the T-shirt slogan, "just one more block...just one more block..."

When you're ready for the next step in guides, head on over to the Minecraft site. You'll find a video by Paul Soares Jr there. Clicking on it will lead to his youtube page, and an entire series of How-tos covering almost everything in the game to date.

I 'retired' from gaming a few years ago but I've been intrigued by Minecraft since it came out. After reading this article I might at least get the smartphone version of the game.

The smartphone version of the game is cool for $#!ts and giggles, but doesn't do the full PC version any justice what-so-ever.

I got it to have something to do on my spare time while i was away from my computer, I never touch it, it's like Minecraft Lite if you will.

Make sure you have the latest pocket edition update. It's still not the full version, but it's miles closer than the old version. At least the world isn't "a football field" in size anymore.

Brit is back! My Nephew showed me Minecraft in Creation mode or something the Chickens are square and take a while to lay eggs.

I've never played Minecraft either despite being an avid PC gamer since 1995.

This guide was the catalyst to get me to try it though, I was bored and figured "Why not see what all the fuss is about?"
Well I didn't read the guide at first, I just jumped right in to the demo and after dying a ton and not really understanding anything and getting frustrated, I came back to read this guide.

Now I am having lots of fun, I can definitely see the appeal, but don't know if it's worth $27 to me...
Is it ever on sale?

Oh also, you explained how to make everything but the torches!
Had to google it :(

I got it in Beta when it was cheap, but all my friends who I convinced to buy it at it's new $30 price have not looked back. They love it. Honestly they could charge $50, a lot of work went into it and the replayability is quite literally infinite.

It has never been on sale....but definitely worth it in the long run, especially if you find a nice server to play on with some friends.

I haven't hopped on the MineCraft bandwagon yet but this beginner's guide may prompt me to give it a try.

Thanks for the great article!
