Wow, that's really enticing. So I could get a Surface Pro for $600? I definitely wouldn't mind that at all.

avatar

RUSENSITIVESWEETNESS

But you can get 16 Mega Rolls of Charmin for just $18.99 at Target, instead!

Buying a Surface is akin to supporting Windows 8 and Microsoft's suicidal campaign against business and desktop computer users.

A desktop OS for tablets and a tablet OS for desktops, Windows 8 is guaranteed to disappoint nearly everyone.

Thank god you were castrated at early age!

RUSENSITIVESWEETNESS

Mr. Ballmer, don't you have a company to destroy before you leave? Better get to it.

avatar

legionera

At least Microsoft is paying me (according to your claim). Nothing like the greedy Apple or cheap Google that use your ass for free and you so much protect.

Need a tissue?

how come ms wont just lower the darn things for $200 if they're willing to offer gift cards? what are they doing to the ipads anyway?

avatar

Agent Smith

I wonder what MS is smoking to come up with a harebrained idea like this!

the bandwagon MS hate is pathetic. you all sound like squawking parrots.

the Surface is a very nice tablet. the Surface Pro is an even nicer laptop. and, finally, Windows 8 is a really nice OS that improves significantly upon W7.

while neither the OS nor the Surface are perfect i really don't get how people who claim to be technically inclined can say all the negative drivel with a straight face. it's like none of the positives matter but the placement of a button or access to angry birds is a deal breaker.

hipsters are all onboard the bash wagon. lol /smh

RUSENSITIVESWEETNESS

Placement of a button? Who said anything about that?

Forcing a touch screen operating system on users without touch screens (and who do not want or need touch screens) is more the issue. Then there is the stripping away of an aesthetic decades in the making. Subscription software. Plans for an exploitative walled garden approach to kill off innovation and competition.

Parrot the company line, if it makes you feel better. But we won't be break dancing in the board room for your entertainment. Sorry.

"Forcing a touch screen operating system on users without touch screens"

Surface does have a touch screen, and last time I looked so iOS is a touch screen OS too.

"Then there is the stripping away of an aesthetic decades in the making"

Boo Hoo get over it. Did you whine like that when Windows 95 dumped the tiled interface of 3.1 and the DOS command line that was necessary to install just about every piece of hardware?

"Subscription software. Plans for an exploitative walled garden approach to kill off innovation and competition"

Sounds like an Apple innovation to me, as Apple implemented it first and best. At least with Windows you can still install applications on your device that are now in the Windows app store. Try that with an Apple device and see what happens. Now have some cheese with your whine.

don't feed my troll! Find your own!

squawk squawk!

keep ignoring all the positives of both items. it makes your position seem more informed and reasonable. (not)

"Forcing a touch screen operating system on users without touch screens..."

Man... those drugs you are taking are melting your brain. Nobody is forcing anything. W8 was a desktop interface as well. For a person who visits a tech website everyday you seem to close your eyes to that option somehow.

Touch operating system? Who said anything about that?

It's perfectly usable without a touchscreen. If you're using a laptop, your touchpad manufacturer will have more than likely released a Windows 8 driver that allows various gestures to emulate touch gestures. And am I to assume your accuracy with a mouse is so bad that you can't even click a few relatively large buttons in succession? It's less than a second more than the shut down button in the Windows 7 start menu, unless your sensitivity is horrendously low.

RUSENSITIVESWEETNESS

How much does Microsoft pay its web trolls?

Find another bridge, little trolls.

avatar

stige

i'll bet is you say "troll" and "MS shill" enough times you might even convince yourself.

it's completely outside the realm of possibility that someone might disagree with the 'cool kids' who are all on board the MS hate wagon. /sarcasm

avatar

legionera

Very low of you man, very low. Farewell!

avatar

RUSENSITIVESWEETNESS

To my thinking, buying a Surface is akin to supporting Windows 8 and Microsoft's suicidal campaign against business and desktop computer users.

avatar

legionera

I am forcing you not to buy it! xD It is a direct order!

avatar

RUSENSITIVESWEETNESS

I are not said you are the forcing me not.

Stay in school, kids, so you don't end up as illiterate code monkeys.

avatar

legionera

Obey me troll, or I will stop feeding you!

avatar

Biceps

I have never been the biggest Apple fan, but if I had a 'gently-used' iPad, I sure as hell wouldn't trade it in for a surface.

avatar

silverblack

The question is, what does Microsoft plan to do with the iPads they buy?

avatar

logicmaster2003

Shame on you Microsoft for this act of Total Desperation plea. Its almost like saying "please buy my homemade body lotion, I'll even throw in 1 year supply of shampoo.. please please buy my homemade body lotion pretty please ?"

avatar

Pettitjay

Maybe it's because Microsoft users are getting so use to down grading that those that have a Ipad are willing to do it again...:)

What a joke M$ is... they have to try to buy out the competition now. Says a lot about how lousy your product is.
