I like Skydrive. I actually find it far more convenient and useful than Dropbox or any other cloud service I've used. I have two free accounts with 25 Gb of storage each. It's pretty cool that when I delete files they remain in my recycle bin and never seem to count against overall storage space. (I wouldn't take that for granted or go out of my way to rely on recycle bin to keep files though.)

Wow, once again a free service with added features and everyone displays the hate mail.

Sorry guys, your arguments lose overall credibility when you complain about EVERYTHING.

Don't complain just because it's MS. Complain when MS (or anyone else) does something stupid.

If you don't have a valid reason other than "they're not giving me enough for free", "they gave a bad example that I can't relate to" or "if I can't store my prOn in the cloud I don't want to store anything", then perhaps you should save your arguments for posts where you have valid griefs.

There is an old saying, "people listen more when you speak less". Which is good, because then we can read less and still get your opinions.

You seem dreadfully sensitive. Why is that?

I think his last sentence answers your question... It's hard to give Microsoft constructive criticism when 99% of that criticism is "F*** M$haft! H8 8! Touchscreen's suck! F*** the cloud!".

well that and I don't understand why people need to:
1) curse others out to make their point heard
2) respond at all if they have nothing constructive to say.

it's been happening too often lately and I just felt the need to say something about it because it annoys those of us who want intelligent discussions and drives people away who might have otherwise stayed.

A serious conversation or debate relies on insightful remarks (correct or incorrect) that inspire further exploration. it's not simply saying "no it isn't".

("yes it is"
"No it isn't"
- Monty Python)

Anyway, I just can't understand why a company says "here's something even better for free" and all people can do is complain about the article and what they're getting.

I'm one for having good debates and conversations. I just don't see the need for unwarranted bashing. It adds nothing. We're the MaxPC community, we should be better than that.

Maybe I am just sensitive... or maybe I want to hear WHY people think what they do, not just make un-justified angry statements.

“For example, you might have taken a photo 6 months ago of the menu of your favorite restaurant, but can't remember where it's buried in your Camera Roll and want to remember the dish you had. You can simply type in the restaurant name on your desktop and Bing Smart Search will search text of your Camera Roll photos and pull up the picture of the menu with the restaurant name printed on it,”

'Cause this happens all the time. I'm taking pictures of restaurant menus almost every day!

As this is the best example they could dream up, it's rather clear the primary purpose of the service is data aggregation for advertisers. Microsoft's going to look through your photos and sell what they find.

But keep pimpin', M$axPC! Keep pimpin'!

Don't confuse SkyDrive and Microsoft with Google. Don't get scroogled.

Microsoft has the same sorts of open-ended TOS and ownership clauses on cloud files that Google does. it's laughable to assume they WOULDN'T do exactly the same thing. Of course they couch it in banal terms such as "anonymized data" but all those terms really mean is that your given name is replaced by an equally identifiable number.

I'll enjoy this cloud service when I'm allowed 5TB of free encrypted space =3

"who the hell is ms to tell people they don't allow nude photos on skydrive"

Their service. Their rules. It's real simple. They don't want to get bogged down in legal issues because you uploaded your kiddie porn, etc. Besides, what you put into your private SkyDrive isn't going to get you into any trouble regardless. Unless, again, it's child porn related. You would only run into issues if you share it to the public and someone hit the Report Abuse button. And by the way, if you use any computer, you are using apps.
