My Nokia Lumia 925 is a great device. WP8 could be great if not for a few redundant, idiotic, if not downright retarded niches.

Here's a few of the things that piss me off:

1)Lowering the volume in music player universally lowers the volume on the phone. So you can't hear the phone ring or alarm sound ~.~ .

2)You cant manually change the photo quality in camera.

3)You have to spam the "back" button to close programs.

4)The status bar auto hides so you can't just glance at your signal strength etc.

5)The keyboard has no haptic feedback, the shortcuts for numbers etc. are not very natural, tons of unused space on either side of the keyboard, to edit a word you have to hold it and wait for a tiny cursor blinker, no support for 3rd party keyboards.

6)No call duration in call history(minor annoyance).

7)No file manager.

8)No support for TV Out and/or HDMI.

9)No USB Host support(to use with portable hard drives, USB drives etc).

10)You want to set the phone to vibrate with incoming calls? LOL! You get a barely noticeable "Vibrate 2x THEN Silent" in a time frame of 2 secs, instead of "Vibrate AND Continue/Ring"...What idiot came up with that?

These are just a few of the things that piss me off. My old Symbian phones(Symbian: The "prehistoric" OS that Nokia chose to replace with WP) were capable of doing all of these things running on ancient hardware. MS needs to step it's game up if they want to compete with Iphone and Android.

Perhaps they've upgraded quite a bit since your phone. Glancing over your list my 1020 does most of them and a few I've never tried yet/looked for. Maybe the "Amber" update didn't get to you yet?

Wife and I had 4S64's, sold them at Gamestop for $383 (each!!) in store credit (Amazon and Shell Gas cards) I got my wife a 5s64 the morning they released and I picked up a Nokia 1020 after seeing how bad the 5s camera was. Yes, I miss a few apps but the 1020 is easy to use and the camera is flat out AMAZING. ATT Locker is 50g included (along with the phones' 32g) so storage is simple. I have less withdrawals than I thought I would!

Gamestop doesn't pay enough for that stuff. You probably could have gotten 500 or more each by selling through craigslist or ebay.

Just looked at Craigslist (again) to confirm- I see one for $400 (same one, two weeks) and a lot for $300. Gift cards are perfect for me, especially Gas and Amazon, since I use both quite a bit.

Sorry I missed that you got 383 each, so that's not too bad.

If I received an iphone I'd sell it for 25% mark down and go buy an android based phone. Only a clown would buy an iphone, there are much better phones for the same price or cheaper.

Meh, after my 2nd and third android phones developed weird problems, I decided to just get a phone that would make a cal and not force close the phone app randomly.

Pass.

I wouldn't give them an iPhone or a decent Android phone if they gave me a Windows Phone for free with the trade-in + a gift card to their black hole of an app store.

Your every comment is against Microsoft. Could you be less monotonous? Please?

avatar

Engelsstaub

That answer is incorrect. A cursory review of my comment history will reveal many positive comments regarding Windows 7, Windows 8, Skydrive, etc. as well as discussion on a multitude of other topics. Troll better.

Maybe I got you in the middle of series of negatives. At least I get points for trying and asking politely. ;) Nothing like poking the people with the word "troll" every time someone tries to communicate with me peacefully.

avatar

jbitzer

But you lose points for the typical condescending post.

When you post consistently on a page about particular products stating how much you hate them, that's a bit trollish.

Know what I do? I don't read articles about topics I'm uninterested in.

@ jbitzer

WHAT A COINCIDENCE!! I am doing exactly the same thing!! We could be brothers or something! (Spits on hand) Spit brothers??

Yeah Engelsstaub may be a bit of a douche sometimes, but he only posts negatively if he truly feels that way. And Windows Phone has a looooong way to go to be even remotely a serious competitor to the Android and iPhone market. And I'm not saying this because I dislike Windows Phone 8. I actually have a Nokia Lumia 920 and I like it just fine but there's still a lack of apps on the Windows Store and there are some features missing that I'm baffled as to why they were left out. Like audio switching. On an iPhone or Android, if I want the audio of whatever I'm listening to, to come from the phone I have to turn off my Bluetooth headset. There's no built in say to switch like there is on iPhone and Android.

iPhone users are such lucky people...

bjoswald

Now they're begging iPhone users to trade for a Windows Phone... Ha. Good luck, MS. You're gonna need it.

old, old news.

I wonder what will be more profitable for Microsoft: the sale of new Windows phones, or the sale of used iPhones?

What about the war against flip phones? I have a flip phone that i would trade in. :p
