The Megatasking Film Contest

Official Contest Rules


ELEGIBILITY: The Megatasking Film Contest (the “Contest”) is open only to legal residents of the United States only, 18 years of age or older (each potentially an “Entrant”).  Void in Arizona, Maryland, Vermont, Puerto Rico, and where prohibited by law.  Employees of Sponsor, Future US, Maximum PC, PC Gamer, AMD, Maingear, Vigor, all advertising and promotional agencies and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, sales representatives, distributors, manufacturers, licensees, agents, and their immediate family members and those living in the same household of each, are not eligible to participate in this Contest.  All applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.

CONTEST PERIOD:  The Contest runs between 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on May 15, 2007 and 11:59 pm ET on August 24, 2007 (the “Contest Period”).  The Contest Period will consist of an Upload Phase (the “Upload Phase”) beginning at 12:00 a.m. ET on May 15, 2007 until 11:59 p.m. ET on August 24, 2007; and a Voting Phase (the “Voting Phase”) beginning at 12:00 a.m. ET on August 25, 2007 until 11:59 p.m. ET on September 7, 2007.   

HOW TO ENTER:  During the Upload Phase Entrant must visit or and follow the links and instructions for creating a digital video, registering, and uploading the digital video.  Entrant must complete and submit the registration information and upload their digital video entry.  Digital videos must express the concept of “Megatasking”, which, for purposes of the competition, means thematically based on either multitasking or of doing multiple activities at once; must be no longer than 64 seconds in length; file must conform with upload requirements; and must be an original creation that has not been submitted into any other national contest.  

The following tasks must be followed to remain eligible:

§  Users must submit entry on

§  Entries must be tagged with either “PC Gamer” or “Maximum PC”, depending on which prize your are competing for; and “AMDMegatasking”

§  A slide will be available for download on or , which includes logos of either Maximum PC or PC Gamer and AMD.  This slide MUST appear in your entry. 

Entries must not contain nudity, profanity, extreme violence, be inappropriate, indecent or obscene as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.  Each Entrant may only submit one (1) digital video to the Contest.  If it is discovered that an Entrant submitted more than one (1) entry, all of that Entrant’s entries will be void.  Proof of submission or sending is not proof of receipt by Sponsor.  All submissions become the exclusive property of Sponsor, and none will be acknowledged or returned.  Sponsor shall have the right to edit, adapt, and publish any or all of the videos submitted, and may use them in any media with or without attribution or compensation to the entrant, his or her successors or assigns, or any other entity unless prohibited by law.  Submission of an entry in this Contest constitutes Entrant’s irrevocable assignment, conveyance, and transference to Sponsor of all right, title, and interest in the entry, including, without limitation, all copyrights, and Entrant’s agreement to the terms herein.  Only entries submitted are accepted.  In addition, by entering, Entrants represent and warrant that the entries that they submit:

§  Are their own original creations;

§  Do not infringe any other person’s or entity’s rights; and

§  Have not been submitted previously in a national contest of any kind.


Voting Phase:  Entries will be posted on and available for public viewing.  During the Voting Phase, the public will be able to vote for their favorite entries according to the following criteria (the “Judging Criteria”); Best expression of the concept/theme of “Megatasking”, as set forth above (25%); Creativity (25%); Originality (25%); and Technical Ability (25%). The top five (5) entrants of each publication will be the Contest finalists (the “Finalists”).

Judging:  The Finalists’ entries will be judged by certain editors of Maximum PC, PC Gamer and Marketing according to the same Judging Criteria as in the Voting Phase.  All contestants must be accessible via Youtube and email to remain eligible.  All potential winners will be notified by email or Youtube on or about August 15, 2007, and will be required to sign and return to Sponsor an additional Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity and Liability Release within ten (10) days from the date of prize notification.  Failure to comply with this or any other requirement for any reason or return of prize notification as undeliverable will result in forfeiture of prize and the selection of an alternate potential winner from among the remaining Finalists, according to scoring rank as set forth above. 

PRIZES:  Two (2) GRAND PRIZE: An AMD powered Gaming PC.  Maximum PC Entrants will receive one (1) Maingear PC complete with AMD Quad FX Platforms featuring 2 AMD Athlon 64 FX-74 Processors.  PC Gamer Entrants will receive one (1) Vigor PC complete with AMD Quad FX Platforms featuring 2 AMD Athlon 64 FX-74 Processors.  ARV: $4,000 each


For all Prizes: The ARV of electronic prizes are subject to price fluctuations in the consumer marketplace based on, among other things, any gap in time between the date the ARV is estimated for purposes of these Official Rules and the date the prize is awarded or redeemed.  Prizes are non-transferable and no substitution will be made except as provided herein at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value if the designated prize should become unavailable for any reason.  Winners are responsible for all taxes and fees associated with prize receipt and/or use.  Odds of winning a prize depends on the number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period.  Total ARV of all prizes: $8,000


GENERAL RULES:  By entering or participating in the Contest, Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules.  Sponsor assumes no responsibility for electronic hardware, programming or software malfunctions, or failures, or line connections, accessibility or availability, or technical failures of any kind, or unauthorized human intervention, or the incorrect or inaccurate capture of any entry or other information, or for the failure to capture any such information.  Sponsor is not responsible for:  (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Contest; or (4) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries. Further, if, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned by reason of infection by virus, bugs, worms, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which, in the sole opinion of the Sponsor, may corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest (“Disruption”), Sponsor reserves the right, at their sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest, and select the winner for the Contest, from the entries received prior to the Disruption or in other such manner as deemed fair and appropriate by Sponsor.  Entrants, by participating in this Contest, hereby waive and release, and agree to hold harmless the Sponsor, Maximum PC, PC Gamer, AMD, Maingear, Vigor, all promotions and advertising agencies, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, distributors, and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents, from and against, any and all rights, claims and causes of action whatsoever that they may have, or which may arise, against any of them for any liability for any matter, cause or thing whatsoever, including but not limited to any injury, loss, damage, whether direct, compensatory, incidental or consequential, to person, including death and property, arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from their acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prize in the Contest, or their participation in the Contest, or their participation in any Contest or prize related activity, or any travel related to the Contest or any travel for any prize related activity.  Winner also further acknowledges that Sponsor, its affiliates, subsidiaries, employees, officers, directors, and promotions and advertising agencies have neither made, nor are in any manner responsible or liable for, any warranty, representation or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law relative to any prize or these Contest including but not limited to quality, condition or fitness for a particular purpose. Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved under the laws of the State of California, without respect to any conflict of law issues, and entrant agrees that such shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the Federal and State Courts of San Mateo County, California.

Future US is obligated to disclose only the first initial and last name of the winner, to protect that winner's privacy.
