Who's the winner winner? :(

avatar

Humpfester

I've been trying for two days to enter this contest and nothing happens when I hit enter submit, wtf over? and I have a facepalm account.

avatar

Wily_One

Thanks for the info, Number Six, but supplying my full name, address, and birth date on a postcard is only slightly more secure than doing it on FB. ;)

avatar

Number Six

Though it costs a few more cents, you can stick the postcard in a sealed envelope, although rumor has it the NSA doesn't look at postcards anyway.

Remember, the best place to hide something is in plain view.

Eh, write it in binary.

avatar

NumberSix thanks for the alternate instructions. I got so caught up in my righteous wrath that I forgot contests always have some other means of entry. You put some effort in to replying to all of those posts, pretty cool. Now, where to find a postcard...

avatar

Cy-Kill

Just saw the following posted over on the Maximum PC facebook page, and I have to agree with the poster,

Take a look at the following, if CNET can do it, why the hell can't Maximum PC:

"*NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Open to legal residents of the U.S, Puerto Rico or Canada (excluding residents of Quebec and of all other US territories and possessions), 18+, and a Registered User of cnet.com who signs up for the CNET Insider Newsletter. Void where prohibited. Sweepstakes Ends at 11:59pm PST on December 16, 2013. See rules for details."

Thumbs up. Nice pro-active solution to the FB problem.

MPC, most grown men don't use or have a facebook page. Which leads me to assume most of your readers fall into this category. WE subscribe to your magazine and visit your webpage yet you ostracize us from your contests.

No contest for me. Sorry MPC but I don't do social media. And I really would have loved the new case.

I agree with the last post. I don't have a FB log on. So far I am still alive. Go figure.

Facebook is _required_ to enter a contest? WTF?

Pass.

avatar

Number Six

See my post above.

avatar

Ghost XFX

Kind of funny, I'm not the only one that saw this was a register with FB to win contest....

As cool as it would be to win a 780 Ti card, I'll pass on this one.

avatar

Number Six

See my post above.

avatar

vrmlbasic

Cool.

I happened to see Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (yeah, I know) and he gave out AMD's "tech the halls" package to all audience members: a $500 console coupon, an AMD-based laptop and a "R9 series graphics card".

It felt like a waste, since most of the audience wouldn't know what to do with a GPU-especially if it were a R9 290 (They didn't say)-so they should have hooked MPC up with that offer :D

avatar

Cy-Kill

I wish MPC would grow up and stop thinking that america is the centre of the universe and that it's the only country to exist like 99.9% of americans do!

avatar

rsaotome

Guess this is the only way I'm going to make it in that 0.1%, but I'll take it. :)

avatar

Maximum PC is located in the United States of America:

Maximum PC
4000 Shoreline Ct. Suite 400
South San Francisco, CA 94080

If you don't like the fact the contest is for the United States of America only, maybe read or follow a magazine or website in whatever country you live.

avatar

Cy-Kill

bbq4tw,

This is from CNET, which I posted about above after finding the post on MPC's facebook page,

See rules for details."

avatar

bbq4tw

From what I can tell Maximum PC has no affiliation with CNET. What is your point?

avatar

Cy-Kill

Now you're just being a jackass!

avatar

bbq4tw

How am I being a jackass? Maximum PC is in no way affiliated with CNET. Just because CNET does something, Maximum PC should? Your logic is flawed.

You're trying to start something with your anti-American rhetoric. Do you want free stuff? Follow sites based in whatever country you live.

avatar

Cy-Kill

You're still a jackass, just live with being a jackass!

avatar

Carlidan

What? The reason they couldn't is probably there are something prohibiting them from doing it. Not because they "think" USA is the center of the universe.

P.S. you spelled center wrong. Yeah, I'm being a dick just like you. :O

avatar

Neufeldt2002

Actually Centre is the correct spelling for the rest of the world while center is only correct in the USA.

Edit: Not trying to be a dick, although it may come across that way. Sorry.

avatar

Carlidan

my bad.... :)

avatar

Led Weappelin

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that there are folks other than myself that don't Facebook. Been there, done that and got the hell out in a hurry. Nice prizes but no thanks.

avatar

Number Six

See my post above.

avatar

crwlngkngsnk

I would love to make this my Folding rig, but you can keep Facebook. Hey, if it makes easier for somebody else to win, go ahead. MaximumPC, I love you guys, I'm a print subscriber; you really screwed the pooch here.

avatar

Number Six

See my post above.

avatar

buttersoft

Another US-only giveaway, but thanks for the thought. And are they seriously mining privacy data for this one? That's shameful. Fuck any giveaway that wants you to hand over your friends.

avatar

steven4570

I have to respond to the idiocy down below. They are essentially giving you 1100 bucks worth of stuff. You dont like Facebook? fine, just create an account and only use it for contests, they honestly dont care about your friends or anything else(you're not that important) I swear, they could be giving you a 100 million bucks and you people would still b**ch about having to use a facebook account that you wont ever use except to enter contests. Geez a lou people, get over it and yourselves. The flip side to this is i hope yall do stay off these contests because of FB, gives me a better shot at winning.

avatar

Renegade Knight

Your bitching about everyone else's bitching is actually more worthless than the bitching you are bitching about.

Why? Glad you asked. Because it's pretty clear nobody likes using facebook to sign up for a contest. That's useful information. My own post said the page hung up. That could be facebook problems or it could be my browser. Still it's useful because of the goal is to give the most Maximum PC fans the can a shot at this it helps to know if the site is working and that your chosen method of signing up is working as intended.

As for why your post is worthless. Where is the constructive in it? Had you given us all an awesome example of how to say things like a diplomat. Awesome. But you didn't. Leaving your post just a rant.

If you were giving away 100 million bucks I wouldn't sign up. They would be Zimbabwe bucks.

avatar

Innomasta

You.. I like you

avatar

buttersoft

Go whitelist yourself, moron.

avatar

steven4570

No thanks> Moron? they try to do something nice and yall bitch about it. Hop off

avatar

Renegade Knight

Tried to sign up. It asked for my FB info and I said no thanks. It froze and apparently I broke it.

avatar

PCWolf

I can't stand contests that require Facebook.

avatar

CMHyche

At least put in a notice about the Facebook requirement so it can be promptly ignored...

avatar

FreakyFranks

Facebook = Someone please validate me! Tag me! Like me, please!

avatar

rsaotome

I can't believe I'm complaining about MPC's giving away some great stuff, but geez guys 'n gals, do you REALLY need to keep REQUIRING Facebook?

avatar

Cy-Kill

Seriously, another contest by MPC that Canadians still cannot enter, not fucking impressed!

avatar

jbitzer

Stop crying, you get "great" free health care.
