So let me get this straight... A whole PC with an i5 + 8gb ram + titan Z costs as much as it would cost me to stroll on over to newegg.com and buy JUST a Titan Z, and adding a second one only costs $2050 (not $2999.99+).

WTF Nvidia.. I am a fanboy.. but you're not making it easy on me anymore with your pricing strategy the last couple of years. Way to smack your long time faithful customers around.. great business strategy.

Seeing as how AMD is hardly competition it seems as they are not stopping you from doing this crap, It's high time a real 3rd player enters the GPU market. AMD is not keeping nvidia or intel pricing reasonable.

If I were to speculate something, they're either are adopting Microsoft's pricing strategy, or realizing nobody's buying Titan Z's and they're trying to sell their stock.

Not like it's really necessary for most people anyway.

I don't think that's it. If "realizing nobody's buying Titan Z's and they're trying to sell their stock" was true then why are they still $3k+ on newegg? Plus they ARE selling them... as I recently upgraded to a 3 monitor surround setup my sli gtx 580s are REALLY showing their age. I have been checking newegg pretty regularly just to see if the price has fallen. While it has not, they are out of stock on them fairly regularly.

I would like to own one because it should handle my 5760x1080 gaming needs for few years, has a boatload of vram, not to mention it's the Titan Z =P (yes I know my fanboy is showing ;P), but 2 Titan Blacks just makes much more sense when the Z is $3k. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the gtx880s.. yea most rumors point to them not being quite what people had hoped.. my bet is performance is at least on par with the 780ti and hopefully come in an 8gb sku and cheaper than a 780ti. Which to me would make them a great buy and likely 1/2-2/3 the cost of a couple blacks.

Only time will tell though. Come november-december if my hopes for the 880 are not realized I will end up buying a couple of Titan Blacks as I cannot wait another year+ for an 880ti/980/Titan Blacker that does and will have to just choose the best for me and my wallet at the time.

Because prosumers are stuck with the MSRP while OEMs can do whatever they want.

I feel that NVIDIA is marketing the Titan poorly. It's a prosumer card. The Titan performs pretty much the same as a GTX 780 otherwise.

agreed, the only thing the titans have that I actually need is the vram. I did however notice yesterday that a couple of regular 780s with 6gb vram slipped under my nose. 780 + 6gb = $500ish.. thats damn good. If the 880s were not right around the corner I would have already made an order.
