Lenovo is slowly destroying the Thinkpad line. There isn't anything equivalent. When there is they will lose a lot of former Thinkpad fans. Lenovo is innovative. They do try things and they seem to be making their hardware worse at a slower rate than the rest. It's not that hard to improve on the crap that's out there. Not so long ago I loved to look at the laptops at Costco. They weren't high end but they were at least ok and sometimes even tempting. Now I walk by without a second glance. They offer nothing worth a look anymore.

This is just one example: (Link not accepted...) Google "Quit innovating Keyboards") Sorry about that.

Lenova is becoming the real deal. How? Simple. They provide high quality products at competitive prices. For example, the Lenovo y510P is by far the very best gaming laptop within it's price range. No other gaming laptop can compete at that price with the same hardware specs and build quality. Way to go Lenovo. Show Dell/Alienware and Asus how it's done the right way!!

For the right price point, PCs and laptops still sell. lenovo has the advantage of the artificially cheap Yuan to leverage into more profits, just like SONY selling PS4s make 22% more profit with the weak Yen.

A bit curious, how does Lenovo leverage FX rate? It basically just assembles imported parts and sells cheap labor.

PS4 sells roughly at the same price inside and outside Japan. While Thinkpad may be 2x price in China than in the US.

They don't have to leverage it for it to work for them. Trade imbalances are self correcting over time if governments leave currency alone. China doesn't. They keep their currency cheaper than it should be which lets them export more, which lets them keep their economy chugging along. Right up until China can't afford to futz with the exchange rate anymore.
