No "Help App" can fix Windows 8 or stop the hate. Time for M$ to face the music! I'll stick to W7!

If you choose to install the update to Win8.1 Stardock will gladly charge you another $5 to update Start8. I'm running the Win8.1 Preview on a spare PC and I've installed a 30 day trial of the Start 8_1 beta. It works!

Stardock loves Windows 8! LOL!

Yeah, a little late guys, I figured it out on my own with the help of all the tech sites. How-to instructions for a new interface should have been in the first release, an intern and fraps could have done it for you.

I wonder if MS is going to force everyone who uses Win8 to upgrade to 8.1. With Start8, I am completely satisfied with 8 in its present configuration. If 8.1 BREAKS Start8, I will be royally pissed. I also will have to do a full on install wiping my drive. Is there enough changes in the Win8 DESKTOP to justify the upgrade? (as I never, ever use the Start Menu screen). I donno, I really don't.

I'm sure it'll work fine John, maybe just an update required after the "Service Pack" is released.

If what has been reported is true, then the ability to boot directly into the desktop makes Start8 not needed, no? Also, a full install may not be warranted since 8.1 is supposed to be designed primarily as a service pack. At least that's my understanding.

Start8 does a lot of stuff besides boot into the desktop. It gets rid of charms bar, active corners, and does indeed still have the classic start menu which I still use occasionally. Glad to hear that it will work with 8.1!

He probably wants it more for the classic start menu then anything else, same reason I use it.

I'm not sure if it is compulsary, but it has been conformed that stat8 will work with 8.1.
