As far as solid state drives go, Kingston Technology up to this point has mostly been focused on value driven and enterprise-class SSDs, having only recently announced its enthusiast grade HyperX SSD line. Through the combination of the three, Kingston reckons it will move some 1 million SSDs by the end of the year at a clip of more than 100,000 units every month.
According to news and rumor site DigiTimes , Kingston's currently shipping around 70,000 SSDs per month. Most of those are going to the enterprise sector, which accounts for 70 percent of Kingston's overall SSD shipments. Retailers make up the rest, with OEMs not even in the equation.
As shipments rise, look for prices to come down. Kingston says that improved production processes from chip suppliers will result in significantly lower SSD prices, especially as major NAND chip producers transition their manufacturing processes to 20nm.
