What, exactly, is a do-it-yourself mobo? Sounds interesting...

So will these new processors work in my new Asus Hero Z87 motherboard? I've been buying up parts for a new build and lord have I been taking my time about it. I'm assuming they will with no problem.

Sorry wrong reply.

From everything I've read, yes.

Taking your time on your new build? I'm doing the same, myself. I've already got everything but a new GPU and case. Waiting on the new GPUs from NVIDIA to hopefully show up soon. By taking my time, I've actually saved a lot of cash on my components. So far, I've bought everything from Newegg and those promo codes have helped out a lot. If you need a PSU, Newegg has an AWESOME deal on a Seasonic 760W Platinum Series PSU. As of this posting, it is being sold for $99.99 With Promo Code: EMCYTZT5732. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=17-151-120&nm_mc=EMC-GD021714&cm_mmc=EMC-GD021714-_-index-_-Item-_-17-151-120

I bought the Seasonic 660W Platinum Series PSU a couple months ago for $99, plus there was a $20 mail-in rebate. I didn't fool with the rebate.

Anyway, good luck with your build!

Unfortunately Dorito Bandit I've already got my cpu and graphics card. Got a GTX780 back in December to upgrade my HP frankenstein. Things didn't work out (motherboard needs a firmware update that doesn't exist) so I used that as an excuse to build the BIG ONE. Got a killer deal on a 4770K that I couldn't pass up($270.00)and now all I'm waiting on is the extension cables to arrive. Thanks and good luck with your build as well.

In the exact same position. Waiting for the new procs and GPU's before doing my next top-to-bottom build.

In the meantime, stockpiling other components during various sales.

All I can say is when the CPU/GPU goodies finally come around, I will have an absolute beast of a PC once it's put together. :)

I like when new processors come out, not so I can buy them, but because the previous gen processors become cheaper :)

Processors rarely drop in price. The only time they do is because the store is desperately trying to get rid of them.

Not when you are talking about Intel processors.

In my country the price is for new I7 3770K 383-405$ & new I7 4770K 433-454$, and you can compare this prices with the prices at Newegg or NCIX. And price I7 3770k in last seven months did not fall but has increased for around the 17$ in some stores.

Paul, funny thing was that I was going to send you this web post yesterday. Turns out you are on top of it!
Did you also see the rumor of Intel possibly creating chips for Apple (to break Samsung's monopoly) by utilizing the dormant Fab 42 in Chandler?

So are we going to see Haswell-E then?

They are still saying Q3 for Haswell-E.
