Infinity Ward Swings Ban Hammer, Deals Blow to 1,600 Modern Warfare 3 Cheaters

There are a number of glitches and bugs in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 that make it possible for unscrupulous gamers to hack and cheat their way to victory. Be warned, however, that Infinity Ward has begun swinging around its ban hammer and has already dealt blows to more than 1,600 cheating gamers, with more to come.

"Any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in #MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued. Updates in works. Please cont. to report offenders," Infinity Ward's creative strategist Robert "fourzerotwo" Bowling wrote on Twitter .

In separate Twitter posts, Bowling said Infinity Ward can verify and detect cheating without video proof before in-game stats are always recorded. He also said that in addition to 1,600+ bans on the console, "we also did a massive amount of PC specific bans" and are continuing to do "mass bans on PC" while updates are being worked on. Bans aren't necessarily permanent, however.

"Every ban unique to the level of douchiness of the offense. The greater the douche the greater the length. PermaDouche possible," Bowling tweeted .
