So OS X 10.9 and Ubuntu 14.04 are newer than Windows 7 but the software you recommend doesn't work on it. Really should include options for those of us who don't like to pay the Microsoft Tax.

I reckon you want the buffer in Video Encoding to be four times the bitrate …

It's funny you chose SimCity in the pictures because Twitch streaming is built right into Origin. Just launch the game, open up the ingame origin menu and hit the streaming button. (You do have to config it, but it's easy)

Also if anyone has issues with OBS, try FFSPLIT. It works pretty well for me after I enable MP3 audio instead of AAC.

I've found OBS to be pretty bad compared to XSplit.

1) I get audio desync issues in OBS. I've noticed my lips in my webcam don't match my voice.

2) I game at 1080p but stream at 720p. That means my games have to be scaled down to 720p. Games still look fine at 720p when they're scaled with XSplit, but they look pretty bad when OBS scales them, regardless of which scaling method I choose.

3) I can't start and stop a local recording in OBS like I can in XSplit. I like to record for YouTube while streaming, but I don't want the whole stream recorded. I also like to manually split the local recording files every once in a while. That wouldn't be possible with OBS.

I regret dropping $15 on XSplit in order to stream some XCOM Enemy Unknown now.

I've been thinking about doing some livestreams for some time now. Maybe it's time!

Hey guys, follow me at twitch.tv/Zefram0911. I play games like Natural Selection 2 and many others that I've bought from the Steam Sale!

Is it possible to exploit the real-time h264 codecs on the new NVidia boards for this task? Also, every Twitch stream I've seen requires Flash - is this dependency related to the codec or streaming software used, or is it a blanket requirement?

thanks! I've been considering running a stream of my first play of EU4 when it comes out. This should be very helpful.

THANK YOU. I've been looking for a way to stream my games easier, and without using crappy X-Split software. It doesn't let you go fullscreen captures unless you pay for their "Premium" product, which still sucks
