Somebody waited in line since midnight for GTA V and then got knifed and hit with a brick for his copy on the way home

I guess "GTA for Real" is back

Hip Hop culture got its copy.

The Tony Montana Wannabee's got caught

But you say Bill Gates bought a copy?

Cool Story Bro

Sigh! Oh for the days when I had the time to sit and waste playing video games. Last games I played were Unreal and Quake 4. That's been a few years.

Yep, Pastor Bob. Those days might never come again either.

Spend an hour a day playing F.E.A.R. 1 and Crysis, the atmosphere & immersion will get you right back into it.

That is more income in one month than pretty much any movie ever made (just checked, only 8 movies have broke a billion domestically in adjusted dollars) and without all the infrastructure that movies entail. Movies have been around for a hundred years, console games for 30, with graphics rich games only in the past 15 years.
Think of the adjusted gross income of say World of Warcraft. It HAS to be the top grossing entertainment product in history.

I'm sorry...did you say no PC release date? Well, there goes the money I was saving to spend on GTA V, for which I will now use for Saints Row IV. I'm not going to sit and wait months for Rockstar to get their PC port ready. I'll save the money ip again later. Saints Row IV, here comes my money, LOL!

Regarding their dual-source texture streaming, I've long wondered why Microsoft didn't put ReadyBoost on the Xbox 360 as it could actually be useful there, especially now that we have USB 3 drives in abundance that can fully saturate its USB 2 ports.

I also wonder why they didn't push some sort of hybrid hard drive, where the oft-used game data would be on flash while the digital downloads that M$ pushes would be on magnetic media.

Wow...a BILLION dollars in sales. Wonder how much the development costs were? I know for some big scale games like Skyrim, Bioshock and Mass Effect, development/production costs can be around $250 million to get it to the store shelves.

LOL! Its a huge amount of money but not nearly that much.

I read somewhere that they invested 250 mill.

Im still holding out for PC!

Its killing me but i know it will be worth it to see better textures than what consoles will give.

Or else Ill have to wait for an iCEnahcer mod like GTA IV.

I like alot of PC games but GTA is not one of them. GTA to me is the type of game that the hip hop culture crowd likes, aspires to, and emulates.

I've seen hip hop culture advertised but never seen a genuine hip hop crowd in real life

To me it was always just another marketing gimmick

Tell the public what they want and enough fools believe it

That's why Microsoft is failing

They probably started that whole hip hop conspiracy theory

I've have met a lot of real life Tony Montana's however, and even more Tony Montana wannabee's

Isn't that the real market?

legionera

@ Bullwinkle J Moose: Are you sure?

avatar

Bullwinkle J Moose

Oh absolutely!

I am positive that I have met real life Tony Montana's and Tony Montana Wannabee's

As for Hip Hop....

It's just Disco with a few new moves

But even Bill Gates can't bring Disco Back

There is a reason it died, So get over it

I mean if you can't dance, you can sing
and if you can't sing, you can be a rapper

I think that's a Slim Shady quote but I could be wrong

It does not seem to pander to me in that regard, nor do i mimic it. The draw is the ability to be naughty in a parallel, satirical version of our society.

I feel like your description is more towards GTA:San Andreas, which I feel makes light of that culture with it's humor. GTA III was more of a revenge story. GTA Vice city was more 80's culture.

i'm glad I saw this before I played it, thanks for the heads up. freaking U.P.S. still hasn't brought mine even though it's been out for delivery since five o'clock this morning.
