Bad as Card, you know what a game developers should try to make a game that can max out a video card, at least 6GB

avatar

brannank

This is just an early adopter's card, card manufacturer have to sell a lot of cards to stay in business. If the next thing is 4K-5K then they'll be selling cards at a price people are going to be able to afford.

avatar

LactoseTheIntolerant

3 grand for a video card......

if that's the kind of specs needed for 4k and 5k level displays, I hope to hell that this years high end maxwells can deliver more bang for significantly less buck.

I know i am personally getting perfectly nice frame rates on my 1440p display using a humble 660ti with 3gigs of ram.

i cant even picture a 27" 4k monitors pixel scale......then trying to imagine a 5k pixel scale crammed int he same 27".

pixels literally to small to see without equipment.

At what point do we just say enough?

"I can't see the difference between this 6k and 7k display man....but 7 is a bigger number than 6 so i gotta have it!"

avatar

RUSENSITIVESWEETNESS

Yep. These manufacturers are passing something wicked around. And I don't want a hit of that shit, no, sir.

avatar

germanogre

Gonna put 12 of these in my mid-tower so I can run games at max settings on my 1080p bigscreen. Nvidia has 24-way SLI drivers, right? Then I can throw in my 680 to handle Phys-X.

avatar

radarblips

Im glad someone else is on the same page i am

avatar

hornfire3

I agree with Renegade Knight. It's one hell of a badass GPU, but because of price, I'm out.

avatar

Renegade Knight

Right idea. Wrong price.

avatar

enonu

There should be at least two Displayports on this thing for the price. Am I seeing this right? Do we still need two DVI ports?

avatar

RUSENSITIVESWEETNESS

"The big question here is whether potential customers will be willing to drop $2,999 on the GeForce Z."

That's actually a question?

I don't know what planet you're from, but around these parts that price is pretty fucking stupid. Maybe you frequently light your cigars with $100 bills....

F-bombs on a forum post - really? Are you 8-years old, or what? Keep it clean or your account will get banned by a moderator!

avatar

RUSENSITIVESWEETNESS

I appreciate your sense of civic duty....

avatar

jnwoll

I'm going to put three of these in my rig and play the shit out of Minesweeper.

avatar

Ninjawithagun

LMAO! Minesweeper in surround mode FTW!!

avatar

ntetrault

I think you're missing the point.

5k+ MINESWEEPER FTW!!!

avatar

bpstone

April first came early.

avatar

Ninjawithagun

That price is definitely a joke!

avatar

Ninjawithagun

WTF??? I think Nvidia has been doing too much "puff-puff, puff-puff" and not enough "puff-puff, pass". No way is anyone with any common sense going to spend $3K on an old GPU architecture. Maxwell enthusiast GPUs will be out in the fall...

avatar

Rift2

Holy nutz iz that a lot of coin....

avatar

Bullwinkle J Moose

When can I get the 180 Watt Maxwell version for $299
Max Power ?
Max Bandwidth ?
How close does it come to saturating a PCIe 3 port ?

Is there any technical reason that a few lanes on a lower end PCIe 16 3.0 graphics card cannot be used for boot drives?

I'd love to see some midrange and lower end dual use graphics cards that don't come close to saturating a 3.0 port use the extra lanes for internal and external USB 3.1 or ESata 6Gbps boot drives or even a slot for small SSD's on the graphics card for mini systems

That would be sweet,......for $299

avatar

trajan2448

What a beast! I'll take 2. Now that's what I'm talking about!!!!!

avatar

ntetrault

Why did I just read your comment in the voice of Gru, from Despicable Me.

avatar

Ninjawithagun

...uh no. I'll take two for half that price, thank you very much. Now, if those were Maxwell GPUs in that card I would buy one in a heartbeat...

avatar

yammerpickle2

I agree Maxwell is just around the corner and I'd rather they invest the R&D in delivering the next generation of Maxwell based Titans.

avatar

AFDozerman

I think I'm a bit more exited about the 10+TF Hawaii X2 that's coming soon. The cooling is gonna need to be beastly. At least maybe I can retire my old welder and just use it....

avatar

Sir Hobbes3

You think they'll have any discounts on their new furnace? Spring just started and it's not really the time to be selling expensive heating units at full price.

avatar

PCWolf

Just imagine 4 of these babies in SLI (drivers permitting) *drools*

avatar

Zefram0911

You could only do Quad SLI with these cards, meaning you can pair 2 of these cards for a total of 4 GPUs (in 2 cards).

4 way SLI is when you have four single GPU cards in SLI.

Same amount of GPUs but different number of cards.

SLI doesn't support more than 4 GPUs.

avatar

drake555

You mean 2 of these... 1 Titan Z = 2-way SLI

avatar

dominiclolmsted

Imagine putting this into a Raven Z01 with the new Haswell E processors coming out. That babe would be the ultimate 4k gaming machine and still be the size of an Xbox One or PS4. Just in time for Samsung's new 65" 4k monitor with true HDMI 2.0 coming out April 6th. Oh yeah, ultimate man cave is almost here! Now all I need is about $7,000 to make it all happen lol. Who wants to donate to my cause? ;-)

avatar

John Pombrio

My whole house is a man cave. Not a single doily or padded toilet seat in the place. The dining room has been converted into an home PC gaming area, the couches are gone with room for 3 laz-y-boys for console gaming, and the bedroom windows are covered over so that pesky sun does not bother me staying up all night and sleeping during the day. Every bedroom has its own PC, a wired network, and a TV.

avatar

AFDozerman

Jesus christ, man.

avatar

vrmlbasic

There's just something emasculating about the phrase "man cave". It also sounds like a euphemism...

avatar

Obsidian

For the 80% of my PC time that I am NOT playing games, does this card still need to have the (single) fan running and making noise? Why only a single fan?

All those graphics cores, all that memory, does it come with some ultra-efficient power mapping or is it the normal Frankenstein job of gluing two cards into one?

Purely academic questions, since there's no way I'll ever spend $3000 on a graphics card.

avatar

Hurricane99

Are we being trolled?

avatar

markstrelecki

RICK-ROLLED!

avatar

vrmlbasic

So now we have a card that can power a "5K" display (Why not just jump to 8K...?) but where is my 4K display?

...until cryptocurrency-on-GPU dies, will this GPU even be obtainable? ;)

avatar

AEM

Don't worry about that. Nvidia is not good with cryptocurrency mining, only AMD.

avatar

acidic

guess you haven't saw maxwell's much improved mining capabilities yet. the 750ti is just as fast as amd's equivalent card while consuming 1/3 the power. just imagine how great the 20nm big boy maxwells will do

avatar

AEM

I haven't considering it's not even out yet. But even so, you probably can get more mining per dollar with AMD. Anyways, GPU mining is outdated unless you have free electricity.

avatar

acidic

the 750ti has been out. its based on 28nm maxwell. like I said compared to an AMD card, the 750ti mines just as fast while consuming 66% less power. once the 20nm maxwell cards are out, amd's mining glory days are over

avatar

vrmlbasic

Unfortunately no one has told the GPU miners that yet.

It was a total "dick move" for this Scrypt cryptocurrency crap to be specifically designed to not work with ASICs and instead feature the GPU. As expected, the ASIC makers appear to have finally adapted.

If only AMD's GPU producers could have adapted and cranked up the the supply.

avatar

Arthur Dent

Well, looks like I have a new dream machine (8-core Haswell-E with two of these). Anyone feel like lending me $10,000?

avatar

praetor_alpha

This is great news. I've been looking for a new furnace.

avatar

SliceAndDice

I just pre-ordered 4 of them. Should be here next week. Can't wait to get my dual hexa-core CPU, octo-SLI rig running. My current quad-SLI rig can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ

avatar

Sir Hobbes3

Hmm, that's a nice system you got there.

avatar

10c

A truly awesome vid, from the days where trench coats weren't creepy at all and the token black guy hadn't been replaced with the token Australian.

avatar

Peanut Fox

I didn't know there was support for 8 way SLI.

avatar

praetor_alpha

Unlike all these other posers saying it's a waste of money, it looks like you know what you're doing.

avatar

Leo Scott

Wait 1-2 years, there will be a die shrink and the same performance will be available for $1000. This is for people who have money they don't know how to spend.
