"Ironically enough, the 7-inch MeMO Pad HD 7 built and sold by Asus is the top selling tablet in China right now. That's of no help to Google,..."

Oh but it is. But it is indeed. All of that wonderful ad revenue - which accounts for significantly more than any piece of hardware they could ever produce - will fill the screens of China.

Either way, Google is going to rake in hundreds of millions to possibly billions from their Asian "friends".

Well I'm glad I got mine when I did.

I won't get one simply because some of the games I like to play on the tablet are tegra 3 only games like dark meadow. It sucks really, its like having games that won't run on Radeons, no reason except cause they say so but either way I am stuck on the original nexus 7.

I know what you mean about not being able to play the Tegra 3 games. Those game developers want money, so they're going to reformulate and release for the 2013 Nexus 7. Asphalt 8 comes out August 22nd, for example. They will go for the latest, greatest and most revenue!

my current nexus 7 works great for me and i really dont care about the rear facing camera so ill be sticking with my current one too. the sd port would be nice, but ive managed this long without one so there isnt really any incentive to get the new version.

I tend to agree. As amazing as those specs sound, I'm pretty much content with my current first gen Nexus 7. Although, if they were to introduce a Nexus 8 I might just give my wife the N7 (we currently share it with our own separate accounts) and buy that for myself. I'm sure Staples would have a plethora of coupons for me to use upon its release (lol).

I was lucky with my 2013 Nexus 7 in the fact that my daughter is so enamored with her 2012 Nexus 7 that I bought one too. A week and a half later (no kidding!), they released the 2013 Nexus 7. I promptly reset my tablet, returned it to Wal-Mart and got the 32GB 2013 Nexus 7!!! I too wish it had a MicroSD slot, but you can hook up a thumbdrive with an adapter to the MiniUSB port. I too wish they kept that grippy back, but it's not bad and besides, I ordered a case that turns into a tripod that is due to come in tomorrow, so it really won''t matter. It has such a nice feel to it in your hand, your thumb on one side, fingers on the other and it's just made right. Then you use landscape and the top and bottom are large enough to handle your fingers without mistakenly swiping the screen by just holding it. There's so much cloud storage to really make external storage unnecessary for me. I did want the most internal memory though. That screen though! Wow! I'm so glad I got it. Just sold my 10.1 inch Acer Iconia A500 to put the money towards this. It's well worth it. It's no longer that budget Nexus 7 tablet, but the premium Nexus 7!
