Be careful when you are porting in. AT&T and other providers may charge you for early termination fees.

If Google Voice is regulated the same as cellular carriers they are required to let you port away from them, but aren't required to port you in.

Least that how I think the system works.  It's what a 3rd level CSR told me the last time I went through the porting process.

I'd do it, except I'd lose the AT&T unlimited data plan that I've been grandfathered into.  Blarg.

To be quite honest, I'm not quite sure what problem Google Voice solves.

As it stands, I have a google voice number that I don't often use, except to send txt msgs from my home where I have bad cell phone coverage. So, I'm taking a wait and see approach.

I want to port my number to GV but i'm concerned about the the issue of needing to port the number back.
