This is just how Millward Brown sees things and is only one opinion perhaps based on facts and perhaps not. I will wait for the final analysis from several different guesstimators and value-ators before I'll go singing the king is dead. Several people in the past has come out with bogus values in an attempt to change investment values. When people like this go public it has the potential of making some people very wealthy and a lot of people very poor. Perhaps with all the extreme broadband infrastructure Google has been building of the past few years has helped google surpass Apple in value but I'll believe it when more than just one or two people/organizations come out with their educated guesses.

Name one 'real' Google product, and no, not a service. And no, Google Glass doesn't count.

Software is not a service. It's a product. It's physical elements being electrons, magnetic imprints, optical pits, etc.

And as such Google has the following successful products: Google Search, Google Voice, Gmail, Google+, Chrome (the browser), Chrome (the OS), Google Docs, and Android to name only a few of their actual products.

Furthermore, Google fiber is slowly rolling out as the cable consortium lobbies state legislatures to pass discriminatory laws that will hinder Google's ability to compete with them.

If you want something you can physically touch, there is Google TV, Chromecast, the Nexus line of phones, and whether you like it or not Google Glass does indeed count as well.

I hope that answers your question.

Welcome to the post WWII era where companies don't have to produce a 'product' to make money and be valuable but can make money via a service provided. Just because you can't hold anything they make that doesn't mean they don't make things. They provide many services that many people use daily and that is just as valuable as any manufacturing business.

as a matter of fact, when i think "google glass" i think "how could it make my life better?" how could i utilize it? i just cant, you could be more subtle texting with your phone and actually be taking a video.

Google always been more valuable than Apple. Google offers stuff that is actually useful.

And then they dismantle it once users get in on it. I'm not taking the latest instance of that, the nerfing of the Drive app, well at all :(

Or more accurately until they kill something that few use and that costs them more than it's worth. But as we know companies that make physical products keep selling and producing things that don't make any money all the time.

indeed. you can't really compare like 5 "different" products to Google's wide reach into multiple fields.

Good. I love my ipod, but really, it's about time the king was dethroned.

"Steve Cook and the rest of the Cupertino gang at Apple"

Might want to change that to Tim Cook.

Perhaps Tim Cook and Steve Jobs had a love child before he kicked the bucket...
