WTF... Ti already has an aftermarket cooler for it's gfx but not for 290 yet. Grrr.....

From what I heard AMD was holding third party designs back until the 780Ti was out. If that's true, we should be seeing them very soon.

It's sad to buy a 780 and not go for the best feature it offers being the titan cooler. Instead this will give you mediocre improvements by directly dumping the heat into your case. No thanks :-)

You must have a pathetic case if you're limited to only blower style GPU's then.

No, but I'm also not intellectually declined enough to push through hot air into my cpu closed loop water cooler.

The way my PC is situated, if I had a water cooler for my CPU it would end up sucking in the hot air that the GPU blows out. For me to use a water cooler I'd have to set either the rear or top fan as air input and the front fan as exhaust. That would mean that cold air would be blown away from the GPU air intake instead of towards it. That sounds less efficient to me.

How do you have your case set up to avoid this?

Simply get blower type GPU coolers so that the air in your case isn't dumped heat. My case simply has two filtered 140mm fans at the bottom pulling in air while the closed loop at the top is exhausting heat out.
Considering how good the Titan cooler is, the only logical step up would be custom loop GPU cooling. (not that logical if you account for cost/performance.)
