A little weird that they are doing this on the FM platform, since the APUs are targeted more at budget systems. Unless I missed the memo that the next heavy hitters from AMD are going to be FM2+?

It turns out that relatively expensive FM2 motherboards have been pretty steady sellers, despite lacking support for AMD's flagship desktop CPUs. It's difficult to pin down the reason why, since you'd basically have to take a survey, and those can be unreliable for a number of reasons. We just know that they've been popular enough that companies like Gigabyte are introducing boards with components that are usually reserved for high-end gaming systems.
