I bought Fallout 3 for PC the moment it came out. I have all the DLC for it VIA Marketplace, how will I get the DLC I paid for back when i decide to re-install them?

I have the same question regarding Batman Arkham City. Their FAQ isn't clear on that, and there doesn't seem to be an answer to that anywhere else.

On GFWL, I haven't found anyone unhappy about it going away. There's just concern about the game that use it now. Nice FU from Microsoft to PC gamers. You get a week to spend any points before the market closes. If you don't have an Xbox or Windows phone, you need to call their customer service.

I mean we paid for those add on content. We should be able to have access to them indefinitely.

"You own a license to play the game and the disc the game came on. In digital cases, you typically own a subscription to the game for the life of the digital service. In no cases does the consumer ever own the game."

Seems like every time I activate a GFWL game through Steam, I have to also hit Google to find out why the hell the damn game won't start. The last time I just had to figure it out on my own. The problem? There was a new EULA that MS wanted me to agree too. So eventhough my login information was correct, it wouldn't allow me to play the game until I hit the website and agreed to that new EULA. Normally this wouldn't be a huge deal if that request was clear in the error I got back when the game started. But it didn't have anything like that. Just some nonsensical error that Google lead me to having reinstall the software.

Never liked GFWL. Here's a question though, what happens to the dlc for games that used that market?

GFWL Marketplace shuts down.

Jason Holtman moves to Microsoft.

I smell something a-brewing.

So I assume this means GTA V will NOT be coming to PC after all? Since it was originally distributed through Games for Windoze Live. Unless Rockstar gets in bed with a different distribute, which I find improbable.

true, but I wish it was Steam. that would be awesome.

Games for Windows Live is actually a multiplayer service. The game's distributor is Take-Two Interactive.

Oh look, another move by Microshaft that, what looks like to me, shafts gamers. Why am I not surprised?

Microsoft is fundamentally stupid here. They still sell games on the 360. They still sell games via the Windows App store. What they SHOULD do is roll the points into the next service. What they ARE doing us shafting customers yet again as they try to get things right.

GFWL was the single worst thing you could ever see on a PC Game. The fact that we won't have to deal with this anymore makes me very happy.

I agree. To this day I still cannot play BioShock 2 that I purchased through Steam. Every time I launch the game it crashes when it gets to the GFWL login screen.

The Mac

It was also a giant headache in Fallout 3.

and GTA IV. atleast with Fallout 3 you could play the game. In GTA IV it wouldn't let you play without it. it'd purposely force close the game (even though I could hear it running in the background with a blank screen while it was force closing) I'm glad there are workarounds for GFWL so that games will still play without verifying through that horrible service.

Agree. Been there.

What happens for games that require it?

The Marketplace is shutting down. GFWL service is not. But I'm sure some year down the road, we'll have to deal with that.
