Lets meet tommystarman...............

Where do you call home these days?

I live in Western Maryland. A great place to live and enjoy the outdoors.
My wife and I have a total of 5 children, we are both from divorces, I have 2 boys from my ex and she has 2 boys from her ex.
We also had a baby together which also turned out to be a boy.
My wife home schools 3 of the boys.
We have 3 Dogs, all chihuahuas, and 2 cats, the cats look identical they were twins.
Dogs names, Zoey, boo and the pup is peanut, the cats names are abby and emily.

You would think this young man would be a little happier surrounded by all those of the female persuasion.

What got you started folding?

I read about folding in Maximum PC, I have heard of folding for seti but why fold for something I don't believe in. I enjoy folding to help find cures for diseases. My wife has suffered with sarcoidosis since 1997 and it would be great if they would find a cure for it.

Where are you employed?

I am self-employed, I work on computers and my wife is an LPN at a nursing home.

What other hobbies or interests do you pursue when not folding?

I enjoy watching movies, playing some games on the pc, listening to music, I love astronomy, hence my name. I also love photography I posted a few pictures online at goldenspc.com should be under photography.

How did you learn about computers?

I couldn't afford to pay a computer store to work on my computer so I jumped right in and now look at me now, I worked for a computer store for about 7 years and that is where i learned all about network setup, as in actually making wires and running cable.

What hardware are you currently running?

I have a Asus striker extreme with 4 gbs of memory an Evga 8800Gt SC, 3 Dells and a Hp laptop.

Do you build your own computers today?

Of course building pcs is fun but when money's tight you just don't get that chance :-)

Do you overclock any machines?

I overclock my Evga 8800Gt SC and nothing else.

What are the main things you use your computers for today?

Movies, music and gaming and Folding for team 11108!!!

What Broadband provider do you use - are you happy with their service?

Comcast cable, I have been happy with them so far since I am on business cable and the 250Gb restriction doesn't apply to me, my speeds up and down are quite fast, 28,000/2800 on speakeasy speedtest, but according to them i have a 16/2 mb line.

What do you like most about Folding and the MaximumPC forum?

You get a lot of help when visiting the forums, also you learn about contests and can look at other peoples computers and get to know them, even possible to talk with some of those users over the phone.

What are your future folding plans?

Well I would like to stay ahead of fireburns since he's after me and I'm finally glad I have passed corwinathome because he nailed me hard when I first joined the team :-)

Thanks for a great SpotLight Tommy
You have quite an army to take care of and get ready for life in the real world.
They all look like you're doing a great job.
Even the dogs in the pictures look happy with life in general.
You are folding up a storm and the million club is not that far away.
This SpotLight got Tommy a free pass into the Winter contest.
Good Luck come drawing day.

I messed up.

Tommystarman gave me a picture of the fireburns stats to use and I forgot to include it.

I added it at the bottom of the SpotLight just a moment ago.

It's nice to put a face with a name/nemesis. ;)

Good spotlight - and thanks for the mention. Glad to see I'm motivating you, although I may have done too good a job....my overtake for you seems to be stuck at 1.3 weeks. Every time I seem to close the gap, it widens again.

Thanks for showing us a little more about the man behind the name, and most of all thanks for folding for team 11108!

Nice spotlight, nice family, looks like you been doing lots of nice folding too! I see you also have the same cooler in that rig of yours as I do. It sure makes those dual cores easy to overclock doesn't it?
