Here are the official rules for chimp challenge '08:
1. First team to accumulate 5,000,000 points from the start time wins.
2. Start time for the contest is May 5th at 12pm noon, Pacific Daylight Time.
3. The victor gets to claim the lucky jaded monkey as the prize. Tales have been told of untold wealth and fame that comes with this. The victorious team is allowed to display in any honorary fashion the jaded monkey, the losing team is forbidden to display it. The losing team is bestowed the dreaded monkey's paw, which is said to be cursed. People have been known for have very bad luck with this paw
4. Team captains are as follows: sno.lcn from overclockers, KingFish from MaxPC, Xilikon from [H]ardOCP, and mitsimonsta from OCAU.
5. In the event of a close race, the Stanford site will be considered the official source for points information.
6. Only with a consensus of the team captains are changes allowed to be made of the rules.
7. The official folding names are "T32monkeys" from OC, "maximum_monkey" from MPC, "[H]ardApe from [H]ardOCP, and "Monkey_Bollocks" from OCAU.
8. Have fun, keep it positive, and enjoy the contest.

I'm ready.
I might even skip some naps.
Make sure to use the _ underscore between maximum_monkey.
There are about 4000 points out there with the dash between the names.
They won't help the cause.
It's a good idea to double check each machine you change for spelling and the (_) underscore and also that the team number is still 11108.
If you normally screw up, triple check each one.
Everyone has had problems in this area at one time or another.
Some folks in the past have found the team number changed to 0 (zero, the default) and the points were lost.
Lets make anyone who beats us, work their butts off to do it. |

| Should be an unusual race if Stanford has problems anything like the ones we are experiencing lately. |

It took me a while to find, so I will add the stats site addition is just the addition of another link to the first post in the thread.
But oh what an addition.
It is vastly improved over previous years and should make the race much more exciting to follow.
Much thanks to Clint Davis (overclockers.com) for doing a fantastic job and making folding more fun for so many people.
If things change, and they always do.
We may have another team to add next year.
Imagine 5 in the race. |

Sorry for the confusion....the original post was edited.
I also added a second stats site being hosted by HardOCP. It's rather slick as well. Stats junkies won't be shortchanged this go-around. |

Going to be folding for maximum_monkey on May 5. I wonder if I should fold my HD3870 with my 3 Ghz Q6600 or just the HD3870. |

The Q6600 running the SMP client will produce more points than the
GPU alone. |

Oh good! I didn't miss it. I was worried since time is flying by sooooo fastttt and I haven't been checking in as regularly as I'd like.
I'll have everything I've got switched over - including the machines that don't normally fold. I may even give my new quad core's GPU some work. It's not currently folding at the moment.
Anyone know of the top of their head how many PPD you get from an ATI HD3850? Is it worth giving up one of the four cores to run it?
BTW, I had a lot of trouble getting the Q9300 running reliably. I finally traced it down to bad memory but not before I bought a new power supply and video card. On the bright side, I didn't have to pay for either one and now I've not a much better system! |

| One guy who folds for me is using a 3870 and it gets 900PPD so a 3850 is prob 800 or so. The SMP is still top dog |

Heh Heh. It looks like we learned something from last year. Some people waited until the start of the race to switch over. I was one of them. As a result, we got off to a slow start. I just looked at the chip challenge stats page. We're already producing way more points on maximum_monkey than the other teams!
I got all my office machines switched over yesterday and today. My home machines will follow tomorrow. I even installed it on my notebooks which don't normally run FAH. I think we have a good chance of winning this year! |

| Nope, as long as the username is correct and the team number is 11108, you're in the race! |

Congrats KTev
Started folding 4 days ago and plans to enter the race.
It took me weeks to just figure out what was going on around here when I started about three years ago.
Enjoy the race.
Thanks for Folding for MaximumPC and Stanford -G

That's right KTev, change your username to: maximum_monkey, and that's it, you're racing.
Also, welcome aboard, and thanks!! |
