Its that time again. This is my planned build with a few questions. More importantly though I am interested in your opinion on a few things. I am very confused on the mobo situation and have another question at bottom. Dont be shy.
First the build:
Antec Sonata II 99.99

-I like things quiet and small. I dont want a huge obtrusive box sitting in my room and this one looks perfect. My concern, will it be effective in cooling my setup? I do plan on using both front and back 120mm fans but as you will see I am putting some pretty demanding hardware inside.
Proc: Intel Core 2 Duo e6600 2.4ghz $325.00

-Im not really crazy about this board at all. I wont be needing crossfire for starters but everywhere I go people recommend it.
-This seems to be the one everyone is talking about. Reviews look good for both stability and speed and I have always liked Asus. I do nto however have any interest in crossfire. I plan on using a single card solution from Nvidia. How does this impact the choice of this board?
-What if I wanted to go with the 7900GX2 sli card? Will it run OK? I realise it is a single card but its still technically SLI. How will that clash with the whole crossfire thing?
-Is there a better "non sli/crossfire" board I should look at. I have seen a few mentions of a Gigabyte board?
RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory $325.00

-Used corsair for years, very loyal.
-The timining/speed/DDr thing is always confusing to me. Is this the "correct" ram for my mobo/cpu selection?
PSU: Leaning towards the PC Power simply because of brand recognition but if people vouch for the OCZ Id snag it and save a few bucks.

- WIll it work on that Asus board? SLI vs Crossfire?
- Huge gamer, willing to pay for it and loyal to Nvidia.
- Regular dual card solutions seem messy" to me, im jsut not itnerested.

I realise I am spendign $500 on DX9 with DX10 so close. I do plan to upgrade to Vista and spend another $500 on a DX10 card. Is there anything else I need to take into account for upgrading to Vista and DX10?
Thnx
